Because when you get to know her, you realize there wasn't as much there as you hoped. It's the old wanting what you can't have thing thats driving the ambition.

The pusuit is always the best part of a relationship! You flirt and get to know each other, but then you start dating and it gets boring because you may have worked so hard pursuing her. Every guy always want a bunch of girls we can't have, but we still try...its in our nature!

LOL that's just human nature dude. All guys (and even some girls) are like that. Its curiosity. Humans are just naturally very curious creatures and when you see something that catches your eye you want that person now.
The longer you can't have that person the more your curiosity grows, and then when you have seen all her "cards and secrets" you are no longer curious and the thrill is gone. It's just the way we are.

It's because you're chasing an Ideal, a phantom, smoke and mirrors, someone you've embellished so much that they are no longer the person they actually are, so when you do get the person they actually are, you're a bit disappointed.
You need to concentrate more on your homework.

Many people want what they can not have. Once they get it they see it was not worth it or get bored because the chase is over.
