Matthew 28:19: Jesus said, "Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit."
Mark 16:15-16:
He said to them, "Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned.
Acts 2:38
Peter (said) to them, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the holy Spirit.
The Catholic Church believes that Baptism is necessary for salvation for those who have heard the Gospel and have had the opportunity of asking for Baptism.
Therefore
+ Those who die for the sake of the faith without being Baptized are baptized by their death for Christ. This is called Baptism of blood.
+ Those who die while preparing for Baptism are assured salvation. This is Baptism of desire.
+ Those who die never hearing of Christ but have sought the truth and does the will of God as they understand it can be saved. See Romans 2:13-16. This is also Baptism of desire.
+ Children who have died without Baptism are entrusted to the mercy of God.
No one is too old for baptism. Last year, there were 64,464 adult baptisms. And that was just in the U.S.

If you are serious, what you need to do is repent, and then believe that Jesus actually did what He claimed to do.
You are born once of the flesh, 2nd time is of the spirit..
Not a stupid question.
try to find you some good christian friends to hang with so you will be less tempted to do things your conscience will surely tell you about. You can also im me or email me, I will do my best to help you as long as you are sincere.
ha, I didn't actually answer the question......
the answer to your question is yes, you should get baptized, it is an outward expression of the faith inside, telling the world that watches, that you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ for your Savior.

no it is a response or an outward sign of what God has done on the inside, so first you must repent of your sin, which means to turn from it and follow God's way of living, and trust Jesus like you would trust a parachute to save you. once you've done this you have been born again. God will bring to life your "spiritual man" and the Holy Spirit will live in you and at this point it's a good idea to tell someone about being born again, hopefully a fellow Christian and ask God to show you where he wants you to be apart of his church. read his word every day and obey what you read. God bless

Baptism is an outward ceremony, commanded by Christ Jesus, that is supposed to reflect an inner change. The inner change is the "spiritual regeneration" that a person receives when God's Holy Spirit comes into their "heart" and gives them new "spiritual" life in Christ.
It would take a lot of time to explain it all thoroughly, but here are some passages to get you a start.
John 3:1 Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a member of the Jewish ruling council. 2 He came to Jesus at night and said, "Rabbi, we know you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the miraculous signs you are doing if God were not with him."
3 In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again." 4 "How can a man be born when he is old?" Nicodemus asked. "Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb to be born!" 5 Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. 7 You should not be surprised at my saying, 'You must be born again.' 8 The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit."
Baptism means "immersion". Water baptism symbolizes the baptism of the Spirit.
1 Corinthians 12:13 For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.
Romans 6:3 Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. 5 If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection. 6 For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin 7 because anyone who has died has been freed from sin.

Water Baptism is an outward demonstration of an inward transaction, the acceptance of Jesus Christ. It pictures the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and of the new believer. It indicates that the person is admitting death to the old nature and life to the new nature. It is following the example of Jesus Christ, Who was baptized by John the Baptist. It is a work of righteousness. (Matthew 3:15)
A person should be baptized soon after trusting Jesus Christ as personal Savior. Since it is a picture of the salvation of the person, baptism should not precede salvation. Infant baptism is not correct for two reasons: (1) No infant is baptized in the Bible. (2) An infant has not made a personal acceptance of the Savior as payment of sins.
Our Savior called baptism a work of righteousness. He said to John the Baptist, when John hesitated to baptize Jesus, "Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness." Matthew 3:15 (The word translated "fulfill" in the KJV means to "accomplish, execute, complete" etc. All of these imply a work or task, which makes baptism a work of righteousness.) Salvation is all of grace, and not of works. (Ephesians 2:8, 9)

Acts 2:38 says "Repent and be baptized everyone of you in Jesus name for the forgivenesss of your sins. And you will recieve the gift of the Holy Spirit."
I learned the 10 commandments and made changes within myself so that I was not breaking God's law. Once you feel that you are living for the Lord, repent, then get baptized in Jesus name (washes all of your sin away.....this is why Jesus died for us). When your sin is washed away, you are now born again.
Great question and remember this "I can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth me." Philippians 4:13

Being baptized is something we do as an outward demonstration and declaration of our new faith. When Jesus was baptized he said,
Matthew 3:15b...for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness.
But first, you should address the question of being born again.
And it's NOT a stupid question. It's a very difficult one for the natural mind. Nicodemus was a spiritual leader of his nation (a Pharisee). He had committed to memory the first five books of Moses (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, & Deuteronomy) -- that's a lot of material to memorize! He was no dummy! And yet, when Jesus told him that he must be born again to get into Heaven, he said, "HUH?!"
John 3:1 -- There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: 2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. 3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, EXCEPT A MAN BE BORN AGAIN, HE CANNOT SEE THE KINGDOM OF GOD. 4 Nicodemus saith unto him, HOW CAN A MAN BE BORN WHEN HE IS OLD? CAN HE ENTER THE SECOND TIME INTO HIS MOTHER'S WOMB, AND BE BORN? 5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. 8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. 9 Nicodemus answered and said unto him, HOW CAN THESE THINGS BE? 10 Jesus answered and said unto him, ART THOU A MASTER OF ISRAEL, AND KNOWEST NOT THESE THINGS? 11 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. 12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?
Being born again is not something that is HUMANLY possible. It's something that you will have to ask God to do FOR you!
And if there's no CHANGE in your life after that: it didn't happen.

Some churches require you get baptized to be intiated into their church, such as the Roman Catholic and Greek Orthodox Churches. Protestant doesn't require it to be part of their members but encourages you to do it when you're ready.
Born-again Christian means you accept Jesus Christ into your heart and will try your best to live in the way of God.

go to a chruch and talk to your pastor. they'll do a little ceremony, dipping you in water. there's nothing wrong with your question, so no worries.
it just means you're 'born again' through christ and you have a fresh start to do things right, as best as you can. that's all. good luck.
