People of books believe in God and his messengers and prophets and angels and the judgement day. Pagens and heathens can believe on anything, moon, sun, statues, idols etc. The don't knolwlege that God sent Torah, Bible , Zaboor and Koran.
Heathens, don't believe in Adam, Noah, Ibrahim, David, Solomon, Joseph, Isaac, Ishmael, Mohammad.

People of the Book are Jews and Christians according to Islam. Heathens are people who are not Jews, Christians, or Muslims. Every religion besides the three Abrahamic faiths are known as Heathens.
Islam believes that they are the restored Judaic faith of Abraham. In my opionon, they are not restored Judaism. Christianity is restored Judaism. According to people who are outside the faith of Islam, they are Heathens. For people inside the faith of Islam, they are restored Judaism.

Idol worshipers = heathens.
Islams thinks judaism was the real deal....but they eventually bastardized the religion.......christinaity was then a sect of judaism....became its own religion, then they bastardized it (praying jesus...trinity..)..... Islam came about then. Muslims bastardize the religion too. Bin Laden...Taliban....the teddy bear thing (not the women that allowed it, but the reaction to it). These religions/ people though believe in the same "god" essentially. Zoroastrians are considered people of the book too. If you look at their religion, its essentially the same as the jew/christian/muslim religion. Its offset from the true path is probably pre david.
Incase you are interested ...you have a "muslim" name. Abrahams wife......although we pronounce his name Ibrahim....his wife is still sarah to us. But yeah, people that don't believe in that are the heathens...ehh.....see waht i mean......adam...noah..abraham.....etc.
Again the zorastarians don't have "abraham/ibrahim" in theri religion..........but if you forget the name dropping....they are very similar.
Historically.....it is thought the jews got the idea of a messiah that will be ressurected ....from the zorastarians.

People of the book are people you kill by cooking up excuses when you find them troubling you. Heathens are people you kill without batting an eyelid.
Under islam, only muslims go to 'heaven' where the orgies are personally conducted by allah.
