A lucid dream is when you're asleep and in REM mode, which is when you dream...[Rapid Eye Movement]
Now, a lucid dream is basically where you are dreaming, but you still have some control over what happens in your dream.
Let's say, you're walking down the street (in your dream) and you see this person standing in the road, nearly getting trampled by a stampede of kittens (work with me here) You can pretty much control what you do about the situation in the dream if you so desire.

A lucid dream is very vivid, and often the dreamer knows that he/she is dreaming. Skilled lucid dreamers can control the content and actions in their dreams...control the outcome. These dreams make use of many senses...visually, somatic, etc. You can feel motion, or weightlessness, you see vivid colors, you may even be able to read things that are written. Often these vivid dreams are also full of emotion. And when you wake from dreams like this, you are usually able to recall the dream quite well. It seems very real.

A lucid dream is when you realize mid-dream that you are indeed dreaming. You are able to cause things to happen. The only rules are those that you create. Often they are very colorful and full of details that are so striking that you recall much of it after you awaken. They are lots of fun!
Once I dreamed I was floating on a beautiful lagoon. The water was the most awesome shade of deep sea blue that I have ever seen. Really cool stuff.

rosalyn; a (lucid) dream is a dream that is very real to you, I recently had a dream where It felt like i was a witness in my dream. it seemed so real, that i could actually smell things in my dream, the lights and sounds were very brilliant and i remembered the entire sequence which seemed to last the length of a movie. I,ve had other dreams in the past i,ll never forget. I hope I was able to answer your question.
