I have a friend who I like, and he acts as if he likes me. Other people have commented on it too. He's a bit of a shy boy, so it would take a lot for him to say something. A few weeks ago he seemed to be avoiding me, so I emailed him about it. It took him ages to reply but eventually he said that he values my friendship but 'didn't want to give me any other impression'. I told him he shouldn't worry about it, and since then he's gone back to normal, acting like he likes me. What are the chances that he actually does like me? I think one of his friends likes me, so maybe he's not saying anything because of him. How crazy am I being?

Darling, he's already spelt it out to you. You have it straight from the horses mouth. He says he 'didn't want to give you any other impression'. He likes you as a friend and no more. If you want to stay friends with him, accept that he doesn't want a relationship with you.

If you make a move on him, you'll both end up embarrassed and will regret it - could you cope with having to avoid him all the time because you felt a fool when he rejected you?

It sounds like you've got a good friend in him. Keep it that way and enjoy his friendship but look elsewhere for love.

There are different levels of 'like'. When some people say they like someone, they simply mean that they enjoy spending time with them, nothing more. Others take 'like' to mean 'fancy' or want to do something sexual with that person. It's a good idea to make sure that you and he are using the same 'like', I suspect from what you've written that you are not. He might like spending time in your company, but does not necessarily fancy you in a sexual manner. It's just a question of pinning down what is actually being meant by 'like'.

He does like you, but because one of his friends also likes you he is afraid of upsetting things. Email your friend saying something like, we have known each other for quite a while please tell me if you have any feelings towards me. You could also say to him that you value his friendship, but would like to know if he wishes to get to know you more. If he thinks that he might tread on his friends feelings, does his friend want to be more than friends with you.

Na sounds like he likes you
he might just be shy but if his mate likes you that might hinder him a bit
but if you like him you could always try being a bit more forward yourself?
so not very in my opinion :)

The guy like you as afriend, but probaly has his eye in someone else, just doesn't want to hurt you, so if your friends, enjoy it, they are hard to find and harder to keep...
