Yes, practicing helps a lot. Memorise poems. If will be very hard at first. Like you'll have to read it 100 times and it still doesn't stick. But our brains are very good at learning to make things efficient. Eventually, 3 times will be enough to memorise a page-long poem. It's sort of like "teaching" your brain that it has to absorb it. Recite them later, too. This will "teach" your brain that it has to hold it or else you'll do it all over agian.

Practice, Puzzle solving, cramming up a dictionary, meditation.
all these are secondary ways. Kabbalah is a sure shot technique
