No one can deny the steely grit and glorious grandeur of the Coast Guard Reserves!!!

Seriously, everyone knows it's the Marines. Semper Fi.

Mentally or physically? I spent 6 years in the Air Force and have worked with all types of guys/gals from all branches for the last 10 years collectively. It is my opinion, that GENERALLY the Air Force and Navy have some of the more mentally-demanding jobs, whereas the Marines and Army have more physically demanding jobs. There are exceptions to this rule of course, but if I had to pick GENERALLY, the Air Force has the brains and the Marines have the brawn.

On the respect portion, I respect each and every branch equally for the missions they perform. ALL branches bring necessary skills to the battlefield, therefore they all deserve the same amount of respect as far as I'm concerned. They all have heroes, and they all have knuckleheads.

(I have not included the Coast Guard in my above calculations because they do not fall under the Defense Department.)

Okay, you're definitely a cocky SOB to even ask this question. Each branch has it's own unique place in our nation's military (except the Coast Guard because they are governed by the Dept. of Transportation) While the Marines may be the "toughest" as you put it, the Air Force is probably the smartest and the Army is the most populated. Each service also appeals to an individual's preference. The Navy appeals to people who like sea travel, the Marines appeal to people who want to be elite, the Air Force appeals to people who would rather use brain than brawn and the Army appeals to everyone else that doesn't have a preference. As a former Marine myself, I feel this question is dividing and attitudes such as this cause unwarranted animosity. Aren't we all on the same team?

Mentally or bodily? I spent 6 years in the Air tension and have worked with all forms of adult adult males/gals from all branches for the final 10 years jointly. it somewhat is my opinion, that often the Air tension and army have most of the extra mentally-demanding jobs, while the Marines and military have extra bodily demanding jobs. There are exceptions to this rule of path, yet once I had to p.c.. often, the Air tension has the brains and the Marines have the brawn. on the honour element, I admire each and every branch the two for the missions they carry out. ALL branches convey needed skills to the battlefield, consequently all of them deserve an identical quantity of admire so a techniques as i'm worried. all of them have heroes, and that all of them have knuckleheads. (I easily have not secure the Coast shield in my above calculations through fact they do no longer fall under the protection branch.)

Deltaforce and they are apart of the army, you go special forces than if your good enough you can TRY for deltaforce. Look at recruitment and training http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delta_Force
Those are the baddest of all, navy seals would be next I would say. But like other people have said there are ups and downs in each branch. You got the air power, ship power, and land power. Who ever gets the job done is the hero, I just don't like how marines are there for 9 months and us army are there for ATLEAST 12 going on 15. Lets not even talk about the airforce and their deployments.

Respected by me? All, but specifics...

Marines, 110%

Used to own a retail joint and if they accidentally bounced a check they were there the next day with cash. So I always gave those guys a break on the bank chargeback fee (like $2 vs $25 to hassle w/notices, etc.)

Navy "grunts", 110%... couple of dudes likely saved my life during a bar scrap. Leadership, 0%... anytime a bounced check happened they didn't want to get "involved" so I had to go through legal channels. Navy Recruiters -110%... they'd recruit these kids, rough them up to a point of messing their joints up, (because at that point they were "rightsizing" the forces) and discharge them. It was insane. Never saw that crap from the Marines.

Knew a couple of cool army & AF dudes.

Plus Coast Guard always gets the government rip so my heart goes out to those dudes.

Well I'm Air Force, and I have no visions of us getting in any fist fights with Marines... If your looking for praise for being a tough SOB you got it. I have nothing but respect for our men on the front lines. Including my Army buddy, which drives his little tank all around the sand box.

However when it comes down to the wire, technically we hold the trump card, nuclear weapons.

But all and all it's

The Peace Corps! They go in without any guns! You have to be tough to do that! And they're respected!

Well, all military branches play a strong role in the defence of a country, but if you ask me, the Army

Honestly I think that they are all pretty similar. Sure some divisions have special teams and units that might be tougher than the normal job but I think in terms of general service they're all pretty similar.
