heres the situation:

My friend just has a permit and let me drive his car. We were driving and i got nervous and hit a parked vehicle. Both cars were dinged up pretty good but we just "hit and ran". A few days later my friend got a letter basically telling him we were caught. So my friend, his parents and i are suppose to go talk to the owner of the car we hit tomorrow.

Am i going to have to pay for anything? Will my friend lose his permit? What will happen?

I'm 19 years old and so is my friend.

Every State has different traffic rules and consequences. You would have to check with your local law enforcement or courts.

Basics: You break it, you pay, no matter who's car it was.
Hit and run -- you just multiplied the consequences to a criminal offense.
Driving without a license is often punishable by losing the ability to get a license for an extended period of time.
...............AND with these in your driving history, just try to get insurance, your price just went sky-high.

..............Then you'll be lucky to get a job without your own transportation for a number of years.

Sure you'll have to pay. As an unlicensed driver your friend's insurance won't cover the accident. Your frind equally at fault gor letting you drive without a license. So expect to pay half. Expect not only to pay the damages but for car rental while being repaired and time lost from work. Now if you had injured or killed someone your life would be over and you would be in debt for life. Apparently you are guilty of hit and run as well. So don't plan on getting a drivers license for a while. And the judge if prosecuted will probably put you in jail a few days or have you perform community service a while just to teach you a lesson.

WHAT state or country are you in? If you are in a state with financial responsibility law you will be held liable with your Friend for damages and will be required to have insurance -SR22 - for yourself before state will give you a drivers license. If you're in a no-fault insurance state the car you hits owner will turn the damage over to his insurance company to fix- but the insurance company will come after you to recover money. If you're in a liability state requiring proof of insurance by vehicle owner you friend will be held liable basically and if he can't pay will be denied license and may face a short jail sentence for operating vehicle without required insurance, vehicle may be impounded/confiscated, license pulled until damages paid. If you're in England I don't know but probably get cussed out and maybe not allowed to have a license. At 19 you may be facing adult court for simple misdeamen criminal damage/tresspass and might both face 6 months in jail and 2 years probation for the hit and run depending on amount of damage. Wo ist du?

for hitting a car and running you could go to jail if they have proof, if you are convicted u probably would have to wait til your 18 to get your license not to mention fines for the accident, for not having a dl and for leaving the scene of an accident so yea you are going to have to pay for the damages to the other cars because you are not listed on the policy. good luck and dont do that stupid crap again

I would say you need to consult a lawyer who deals with traffic laws in your state, perhaps even hire one. Especially if you got a notice from the courthouse. You will have to pay for all damages, regardless. If the DMV and courthouse are involved, you could be charged with a felony hit and run as well as driving without a valid license. It can get ugly, so be prepared. If it was me, I would try to clear my friends name since he didn't cause this mess directly.

You're friend will have his permit revoked, and the date that you can apply for yours will be pushed back. Whoever was driving should really be responsible for the damages, though your friend might help out with it.
