I believe there is. Example of a respectable criminal: Larry and Emil, the bank robbers from north hollywood. Pathetic criminal: Rapist, muggers.

of course all criminals are garbage, but if I had to say which is more cowardly, that is what I would say.

The difference is MAL-UM EN SE as opposed to MAL-UM PROHIBIT-UM. If the laws you break are laws just because someone decided that it was illegal, you're a respectable political prisoner in my book!

I think it depends on your definition of criminal. If this means someone who commits a criminal act, then doesn't that pretty much include everyone? Most people just don't get caught. Is someone who committed a crime several years ago still a criminal (in your opinion, not in society)? I only label the word criminal to someone who commits a crime and has shown no effort at reform. With this definition, there is no such thing as a respectful criminal.

Anyone who doesn't respect the law is a criminal, therefore, no criminal can be respectful. Oh and Robin Hood, is a ficticional being nased on the life of a very bad dude.

I don't really like to divulge this, but 12 years ago I did something that landed my butt in Prison for a year. Since then I have be an up standing citizen. So I can't say that there is a thing as a respectable criminal, but some do managed to turn their lives around and contribute to society

I think there can be and don't forget people change.. Sometimes people make stupid mistakes (ie take drugs) or have an accident that isn't their fault but are charged anyway - this can lead to a criminal record.. I don't think it necessarily makes them any less respectful - stupid maybe but not always disrespectful.. What about someone that has a criminal record for tax evasion or something similar..

Our founding fathers were very respectable criminals. As were the French who fought to subvert the occupying Nazis during the second World War. Crime is both relative and subjective.

No, there is not.
Those two shot seventeen people before they were stopped.
You "respect" them if you want to. I'm sorry they didn't get stopped sooner.
