To prevent a theocracy and a hope that each day I can cause one person to reexamine their faith's mythology.
There are also many fun, nice people here, believers and non-believers. Once you learn to move past the haters, it's even more fun.

That's a good question. It's kind of like: I don't believe that a car exists that con go faster than 1000 MPH and gets 150 miles per gallon too. Such a car doesn't exist--so I don't talk about it. If someone else feels that there is such a car---fine, have at it, I won't stop them Why should I care? I don't know why an Atheist has to keep asking questions or degrade God when they don't believe in God in the first place. UNLESS, and hopefully so, they know they should believe and are looking for answers to help them.

Interested in truth and only
the unadulterated Truth
So many religions
so many gods
All claimed to be - The only Truth
Which is not logical
Thus either all are false or the true one
evades detection ( role of Maya- you only see an illusion)
to get at the true one
one needs to question and question
thus Atheist are the
true seekers of God - the Only truth
without being blinded by mere unquestioned Faith
without being influenced by
illogical writings and shouting from treetops
threats of punishment, lure of rewards
sheer numbers or muscle, political, social and economic power
Atheist believe in using to its maximum potential
the best gift of nature to human beings
Brain
to unravel the mystery of God

I must have missed the memo that said the title of the category is "Christianity Only". Atheists discuss God because many of them became such due to Christianity. There is nothing wrong with having a debate and many atheists are much more well-versed in Christianity and God to provide an objective perspective rather than that of someone who can't see the forest for the trees and refuses to accept that their religion may not be 100% correct and/or refuse to think for themselves since their religious leaders tell them what to believe as truth and what not to. Atheists don't feel the need for such a guilt trip and are trying to figure out why many still do.

I guess the same reason christians spend so much time and energy posting questions about atheists, it's fun. Also I'm not sure it could be considered talking ABOUT god, more like talking AGAINST god.

You might benefit by reading "Men in White Apparel," Ann Ree Colton, "Climb the Highest Mountain," Mark Prophet, "Expecting Adam," Martha Beck, and "Light Is a Living Spirit," O. M. Aivanhov.
Also, the world's leading atheist for 50 years, Anthony Flew, has published this year "There Is a God," in which he gives cogent reasons for his moving beyond his former reasons for atheism, which themselves were a high water mark for atheist thinking.

In India they say that your enemy is on your mind more than your friends.
The story of Jaya-vijaya is a charming analogy of this condition.
Jaya and Vijaya
According to a story from Bhagavata Purana, The Four Kumaras, Sanaka, Sanandana, Sanatana, and Sanat Kumara who are the sons of Brahma (born from the mind or though power of Brahma), visit Vaikuntha - the abode of Vishnu, to see Him. Due to the strength of their tapas, the four Kumaras appear to be mere children, though they are of great age. Jaya and Vijaya, the gate keepers of the Vaikuntha arrogantly stop the Kumaras at the gate, thinking them to be children. They also tell the Kumaras that Sri Vishnu is resting and that they cannot see Him now. The Kumaras grow angry at the gate keepers. They tell Jaya and Vijaya that Vishnu is available for his devotees any time. They lay a curse to Jaya and Vijaya that they would have to give up their divinity, be born on Earth, and live like normal human beings. Vishnu appears before them and His gatekeepers ask Him to lift the curse of the Kumaras. Vishnu says that the curse of Kumaras cannot be taken back. Instead, he gives Jaya and Vijaya two options. The first option is to take seven births on Earth as a devotee of Vishnu, while the second is to take three births as His enemy. After serving either of these sentences, they can re-attain their stature at Vaikuntha and be with Him permanently. Jaya and Vijaya cannot bear the thought of staying away from Vishnu for seven lives. As a result, they choose to be born three times on Earth even though it would have to be as enemies of Vishnu.

Because people who believe they have an invisible helper in the sky are considered an equal vote with rational people, and the US government can have people running for president that don't believe in the scientific fact of evolution. Just like the coming election, it is the 20% undecided I want to reach.

Same reason why Christians talk about atheists, atheists talk about Christians, etc. Because some of them just don't seem to understand each other and/or want to accept each other.

We just all want to learn as much as we can, sometimes people just post to be rude and say people who believe in God are dumb, which isn't very nice. but others do it to them too and it's the same thing.
Some really want to be educated to better understand where the believers are coming from.
