I was 40 when I had my last child. I AM an older mom. Children get teased at school for various reasons but, it is important we teach them how to deal with bullies rather than blame the reasons. Children of normal aged parents get bullied so it's not always age related.

Help your son to understand and not take it personally.
Bullies are usually very sad, with low self esteem. If you teach your son to look at the source and understand they are acting badly out of their own issues he can cope better.

I would go to the school and make a stink about the problem and insist on meeting with the School Board to implement new rules. The squeaky wheel gets the grease!

My baby sister is 7 (three months younger than my son) She was getting teased for the same reason. We finally took her to the store, changed her entire wardrobe(my mom dressed her like a librarian), and we found some kids in her area around her age group. We got them to start hanging out and now the other kids think she is pretty cool too. They don't even care about the age of our mom anymore! Keep in mind my mom is probably older than you. I am NOT the oldest child and I am 26. I think I would check out to see what the other kids his age are into and then try and encourage him to be into some of them so that he has something in common with the other kids. If that doesn't work then raise a BIG FAT STINK! Good luck! If all else fails remember... Kids are just down right mean! No matter what you do there is always going to be a bully out there.

Just reading what you wrote makes me sick!! What is wrong with our society. Those kids should be on a 3 day suspension. The school should have a rules for bullying on other children, Go as high as you can! If its impossible find a local news channel to air what the school is not helping out with. Just go raise hell!!
Find the childrens parents and talk to them yourself! Hope this helps a little!

Ditto about making a fuss with the principal, but beyond that, I would enroll him in a martial arts class. They'll teach him self-discipline, so he won't start a fight, but also how to take care of himself if someone else picks on him. It will give him a lot of self-confidence, and maybe throw a scare into the other kids that they're picking on the wrong kid.

Talk to your sons teacher or principal. Tell your son not to worry what the other children think of him. Tell him to be happy that he has a mom that cares about him no matter what her age is.

That's really weird, my mom is older too. (My sister is 17 years older than me), and I've never been bullied for that!
It should get better once he get into highschool. If it doesn't, maybe he could switch schools?
