I have been to doctors, they have given her chloramphenicol eye drops 0.5%, just to let you all know, i wouldnt use out of date medication, I am really just worried that she may be having a reaction to the eye drops perscribed, but thanks to all who have answered so far, your information is very important.

Yes, if it is indeed conjuctivitous and you are 100% positive of that get her in to her Dr. for the correct eye drops. I would continue to give her your at home eye drops until you can get her in to the Dr. but if it has spread to both eyes she really needs to get seen. I have heard in the past that if you let it go to long and it doesn't get better that it can make a person lose their vision to some degree, and that comes straight from my Dr. It also could be another type of eye infection so I would definately have it checked out. If it does end up being conjuctivitous make sure to wash all of her babies and bedding she has used in hot water to get rid of the infection so she doesn't get it again.

Absolutely consult the Doctor, Conjuctivitis is typically either a Bacterial or Viral infection, thus you need to have a Doctor examine your Daughter to determine what is going on. Particularly at her age, she is apt to continue to reinfect her eyes by rubbing them, and so on, over and over, until you get the appropriate medication to use. Make sure you are washing your hands repeatedly, when examining your Daughter, and until the infection has cleared up. Do this as well with your daughter!!
Good luck!

both my girls suffer from this but i use the old wives tale of a used cold tea bag,it works everytime,as soon as i see my girls at the start of conjuctivitous i have a cup of tea and they get the cold teabag, just make sure you give the eye a good clean after otherwise they end up with brown marks around the eye.you can still use this method along with the drops as the tea bag is also cooling for the puffiness of the eye.

What eye drops are you using? Hopefully not the eye drops from her last bout of it as they should have been discarded. You can buy Optrex infected eye drops from your chemist, they treat conjunctivitis, but you'd get them free for her from the doctor. Ask the pharmacist to take a look at your daughter they will tell you the best course of action.
Hope she's better soon, it's a horrible infection.

pharmacists are able to prescribe for conjunctivitis. I would make a trip there first this morning and see what they say, they may advizse you to continue, or give you a different medication, or see a doctor. But at least that's quicker than waiting for a doctors appointment. Given her age I would get a second opinion soon, not worth the risk.

way before u asked this Q u should have brought her to the doctor........ i really hope that when u say drops its not the same thing that was prescribed the last time she had it as its out of date 4 weeks after opening.............. children`s eyes are not the kind of thing that u should try and treat yourself........... sorry if i seem blunt but...... doctor FIRST. ........ for the rest of the info u provided, bring her back to the doctor,my 3 year old had an infection 2 weeks ago after four days the cream he gave wasnt working.... he wasnt going to change it but i told him to perscribe something else that would work for the same thing so he did and since it has cleared up........ some doctors are stubburn(good at thier job) but dont like being a little bit wrong...... just tell him what your using doesnt seem to be working and u`d like to try something else.......

If this condition is continuous it could be a reaction to, the eye drops prescribed,(this is only a guess) refer this back to the Doc or, better still see the eye specialist, do not waste time this is a highly contagious condition and needs, professional treatment.

Yes stop using the eyedrops there are special antibiotics for pink eye. Your daughter presents a classic case, its simple take her to the doctors and he'll check her out and give her a perscription for antibiotics. Best of luck. Hope I could help

I would take her back to the doctors. Noone on here can give you a diagnosis. My mam gets conjunctivitis but the drops don't work on her. So she gets an antibiotic eye ointment from the doctor. Good luck i hope you get this sorted .

Please, my friend, take your daughter to the doctor. If you're using "normal" eye drops they'll do nothing for an infection, if you're using whatever was left over from a previous bout it will be out of date and useless now. These things have a very, very short shelf-life once opened.
