Scriptorian, typical "Mormon" (LDS) response, evade the question with another question.

Thank you Arthur. Excellent links.

Knee Knee more LDS avoidence. Is this how you are taught to react to subject matter that you are not familiar with or what. I guess that's what happens when you forfeit your power of reason to your "Higher Authorities".

That's weird... I thought that Utah allowed women the right to vote before any other state. I'll have to check on that.

EDIT: OK, I did some research, and it turns out Wyoming was first (1869), but Utah was right behind them (1870). I am not familiar with the LDS Church opposing the ERA. Perhaps you can provide a link to the source of your information?

EDIT: Nevermind... I found relevant information by following the first link provided by Arthur. Thanks for your question... it helped me to learn something new! (It also appears that I confused the ERA with women's right to vote... sorry!)

Because the Equal Rights Amendment, as perceived by many, took more "rights" away from women that it may have given them.

It took away all of the time honored traditional favoritism that women have enjoyed through the centuries, ie opening doors for them, allowing a man to give up his seat to a lady, etc. While this is still done, a woman under the ERA could sue a man for harassment by doing those things.

If our church isn't a vaild "church" to you, why spend time bashing us. And yeah, I'm pretty sure Utah women could vote sooner than most states.
