I hurt my back at work about 3 weeks ago. And of coarse they are putting me through the run around, trying not to pay for it. But that is only part of my problem.

I am having serious muscle spasms over the spine in the upper back. I went to the ER three times. As a result I got pain relievers and muscle relaxers. The pills they gave me just make me numb and are not helping. And in the mean time my work is being EXTREMELY difficult . I was wondering if anyone has has similar issues that have persisted for weeks and hasn't gotten better. This is taking a toll on me since I cannot work or walk for more then 10 minutes at a time. I also feel very weak all over and feel short on breath.

Anyone else have this issue or know how to help?

Also, I followed my doctors at the ER instructions: Heat/Ice, rest but not too much.

Any ideas? Thanks!

I forgot to mention that when I get some of the stronger spasms my back will crack. And I don't mean a slight pop, but a loud crack. And it will happen two or three times per big spasm. My Doctors at the ER said it is normal for the body to do that, but it concerns me.

I assume they did a MRI and x-ray found nothing untoward. Therefore, exercise is the remedy:

You know that you are entitled to a second opinion.Get in to see a good chiropractor and bring any exrays you have with you.Mean tme apply moist heat to that area or you can try ice also, whichever feels best>i prefer my hot rice bag on my back.If Advil or any other over the counter meds are not working call you doc and ask for a script of Vicodin which may help.you also may need muscle relaxers,Flexeral or Soma. All the above should help your pain.good luck.

I have not had this situation with getting hurt on the job but I've met a few others who have and they mentioned about having problems with payment as well among other things.

I would recommend contacting a Workman's Comp attorney to ask some general questions and whether or not you can go to your primary care physician to have them help you with some of this pain in the interim.
