Hi. My question is, other then stress or problems with your eyes, why could you be getting headaches everyday?
Im 16 [almost 17] and for about 2 years now, Ive always had a headache. In the beginning I took advil, tylonal, ibeprof. but they never helped.
I've been to the doctor lately, and eye my eyes checked, and theyre fine. Ive also talked to my normal doctor and he put me on muscle relaxers. Though, these dont help either!
The headaches are getting worse lately. Theres more pain then usual. To the point I could just break down and cry. And even more recently theyve been making me sick to my stomach. So its hard to get through a normal school day.
Its definatly not stress because I meditate to get rid of it, and believe me it helps.
So does anyone out there have anything similar, or past experiences? PLEASE HELP!!!

Most daily headache syndromes, especially those lasting for extended periods, and not having neurologic signs, are a chronic daily headache. These can either start as migraines or tension headaches, and the initial triggers are no longer the issue.

Usually, as a person has recurrent headaches, they start trying to ease the symptom with analgesic medications. These can be Tylenol, ibuprofen, and aspirin or prescribed medications. If you take these too often (usually considered to be more than 2 or 3 days a week, they lose their effectiveness, and you start getting rebound headaches, from the medications themselves.

See this site:

http://www.headaches.org/consumer/topicsheets/analgesicrebound.html

This is a difficult issue, and faced bu many headache sufferers. You need to see a neurologist or headache specialist, and have them work on clearing these medications out of your system, and then get you on a headache prevention therapy.

I have had a lot of experience with this, and it is common, but can be treated. The worst things that you can do at this point are adding narcotic analgesic medications. Also many of the herbal remedies are nonrefined versions of the same compounds, so do not start herbal therapy until seen.

There are even some medications for migraine that can continue this syndrome.

The best remedies at this point are to go to a darkened room, decrease excess sounds, place a cold compress over your forehead and/or eyes, and try to relax or sleep.

Generally, muscle relaxants do not contribute to this condition.

Some people have seen benefit with accupuncture therapy, but there is no scientific evidence that it actually shows significant benefit. Chiropractic can also sometimes be beneficial, but in some headache syndromes can also be dangerous. Please get cleared for manipulative therapy before trying these techniques.

Some responders have suggested MRI/CT scans, but these are not indicated unless you have a change in symptoms or neurologic changes.

I wish you the best!

I'll put my money on Migraines. I've had them all my life and until just the last few years..they were on a daily basis! I've found my "triggers" and know HOW to treat specific migraines now (I have specific names for them)
The key is finding a GOOD doctor who is willing to work with you not only to find out if it IS migraines (get a CT scan, MRI, Sinus Cavity Scan and dont forget a headache diary, thats how I found ALL my triggers) but then you can concentrate on prevention and actual treatment. Whether it's being put on a beta blocker or calcium blocker, but also pain management. THAT is very important, some doctors REFUSE to give pain meds (they are idiots) some actually suffer from migraines or similar problems so they can relate and really work with you.

Take it one day at a time!

*Start eating small meal/snacks frequently (one of my triggers, when Im hungry, my head hurts)
* Stay Away from Dairy, Smokey rooms, peanut butter, certain smells like popcorn
*get enough sleep but don't oversleep

I have also done meditation and that helps too, so does going to lay down in a cool dark room and then meditating there.

I have found that small amounts of caffeine HELPS, if you drink say, a pepsi (soda) with taking a pain reliever, the caffeine speeds up the relief. (check the box on midol, that should give you an idea)

I know you want to cry, I've been there, even tried squeezing my head because it helped! But, trust me, crying will make the head pound more! Breathe through your nose and out your mouth and lightly close your eyes to where they barely touch and picture yourself on a floating cloud with a white light enveloping your body especially around your head. That always seems to help me and relaxes me enough that I find that I fall asleep.. and it sounds like you know that falling asleep with THAT pain is almost impossible.

If it helps:
I take inderal nightly for "prevention" and for some types of my migraine depending on my trigger,

I take Tylenol 3 with codeine and my other "weather migraine" (when low fronts come or rain etc..)

I have to take vicodin instead.

Ultram (and Ultracet) gave me a seizure.

Imitrex did nothing but made me sick,

When it 1st all started, Midrin did the trick, it also has a muscle relaxer in it and my headaches were gone within 20 minutes, but back then, I was a lightweight and it put me to sleep but I was happy that I felt better.

good luck!

WELL worth the reading.

Make the connection.

I am a nurse with over 25 years experience in this area and I have seen a lot of people with various illnesses caused from chemicals and fragranced products as well as VOC’s in their homes, schools and workplace. This problem is growing as more and more chemicals are being introduced and used on a daily basis.

We are seeing more and more people with Asthma, Migraines, Allergies, Hives and respiratory illnesses. I can not emphasize how important it is to educate yourself about MCS and the harm you may be doing to your health by using chemicals and fragranced products.

If you or a loved one suffers from Asthma, Allergies, Autism, chronic headaches, reproductive problems, Migraines, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or Fibromyalgia, you need to read further and learn about the signs and symptoms of MCS - Multiple Chemical Sensitivity.

Most doctors will not inform you about this because patients as a whole like to walk out of a doctors office with a prescription for some magical medicine and they do not want to be told that their expensive new perfume or newly installed carpet may be the culprit. So, the doctor will give you medications and many of these meds either do not work or cause other health problems.

Chemicals and fragranced products are often the root of all evil when it comes to your health. Many of the below mentioned items are common triggers to sinus, asthma, itching, headaches, Migraines and allergy problems amongst other health issues. Get rid of them and your lungs will thank you and you will breathe easier.

And, it is not only personal body or cleaning products causing havoc on your health….many people become ill after wearing brand new clothing, dry-cleaned clothes, installing new carpet, painting, buying a new mattress or after home renovations because of the Flame Retardants, Benzenes, Formaldehydes, etc. used in these products. So the answer is NO, you are not imagining that 2 weeks after your home, office or classroom got renovated you started to become ill, get dizzy or have headaches. This is happening more and more these days and adults as well as children are becoming sicker and sicker.

Unfortunately, too many doctors compound the problem by prescribing chemical medications to try to alleviate the symptoms of an already chemical overloaded body and they rarely tell the patient to eliminate the chemical offenders. How many times have I seen people in the grocery store with Bounce, Glade Plug-Ins and Febreeze in their shopping cart along with a bottle of Benadryl , Migraine Excedrin and a box of Allergy Tablets ? Why don’t they make the connection?

BIG NO-NO’s
No Bounce or dryer sheets
No Febreeze
No Glade Plug-ins
No scented candles
No Fragranced Products on Body, Hair or Clothing
No Smoke
No Dander
No Sprays

More and more offices and schools are creating “Fragrance Free Zones”… why do you think this is?

Does anyone else in your family get them?

Taking pain killers can actually cause headaches and damage your liver. See a good doctor and get it sorted.
Headaches everyday is not normal and you need to have a diagnosis. Don't overeat or eat foods laced with preservatives and chemicals.

Allergies and exposure to pollutants in the air (cigarette smoke, heavy perfumes, etc) can cause headaches like that, too.

I once had a headache just like you described -- no over the counter drugs would cure it -- because my college roommate was a cigarette smoker and even with the windows open, the smoke lingering in the room was so bad. It took me and my doctor two months to figure it out, so I can sympathize with your plight entirely.

You could also be suffering from migraines, maybe.

I had headaches every day for 3 or 4 years. They finally diagnosed them as migraine headaches. The doctor prescribed Imitrex for me. That helped break the cycle.

no hunny it's not normal ..... try focusing on what you are eating on a daily basis and see if there's any pattern to what you've just eaten as to when theheadaches occur ..... salt added to your food or salty foods such as potatoe chips / crisps, nuts, bacon .... even cheese will produce headaches if you are intolerant ...... oranges too give me cracking headaches ... go figure... and cured meats could be causing it.... salt gives me wicked migraines and headaches .... drinking lots of water after a salt induced headache might relieve it for you ... some people are super sensitive to salt and retain water when they ingest over a certain amount.... this creates pressure in your system and produces headaches.... other causes could be lack of calcium and magnesium ..... eat more green salads and fresh fruit.... if you can't eat them juice them..... and drink them....or it could be dehydration from too much soda or pop?? .... or it could be a lack of iron in your system... eat more lean meats, free range eggs, wholegrains and cereals like brown rice, rolled oats peas beans and lentils, raw nuts and seeds like almonds sunflower seeds, brazil nuts .... i'd start by eliminating the salt shaker and any crisps, salty nuts, bacon, ham etc..... i bought a leg of ham for christmas yesterday and we had ham sandwiches.... within the hour i had a stomach ache and a nasty headache........ 2 x 600ml bottles of water fixed it ... but i've still got the hangover effects of the headache this morning.... kind like i was flattened by a truck.....;0) bless x

My dear be couragious.Pl try acupressure given below for some relief in bad h/a.

Alternate systems of medicine can only help you.

There is no medicine for H/A OR MIGRAINE. Not only these but for RA, OA, Back ache and almost all painful diseases. Hence they become chronic.

Acidity, WORRY, sadness, excessive wind, cold , heat, sour food and sinusitis, constipation, intestinal inflammation; drug side effects, stress, bad smell, TV & COMPUTER SOMETIMES,
Blockage in the flow of Vital Energy, BODY CONSTITUTION etc are their causes. None of them can be treated with medicine. Our 100% success in treating migraine &H/A confirms it.

Acupuncture is the best treatment.
I can treat it with naturopathy and YOG, but how can you manage pl see.

Pain killers don't treat the pain but we loose the sense of pain for some time; in that duration our body itself treats sometime and credit goes to meds.
The useless drugs have tremendous power of side effects like liver/kidney failures, ulcer, inflammation of intestines and lot more.

Avoid late sleeping if possible; worry, spicy foods, sour fruits, stale bakery foods, SMOKING and alcohole.
Sweet foods, COCOANUT WATER,sweet fruits, milk, rice, SPROUTS, SALADS and good sleep will help if cough is not there.

But you try one herbal remedy- two drops of drumstick leaves' juice in opposite nostril if one side pains and both nostrils if full H/A will give you rescue. Betel leaf helps but it is very strong.

If it is acute pl search a painful point 3-6 mm behind your thumb nail and press it, H/A will disappear within 30 seconds.

For forehead pain the points are in front of nails on the finger tips or 3-7 mm below.

It may disappear naturally too.
