She is obsessed with this little green stuffed animal frog. It's about 3 inches in length, and she tosses it up in the air, and chews on it very lightly, as if not to hurt it or something. When I take it from here she can't stand it, she has to get it back and she'll do almost anything to get it back. The thing I don't understand is that she throws it down, and rolls on it.. rubs her back on it.. what does it mean when a dog does this? (She is fixed by the way, for over a year)

When a dog rolls on something, she's either trying to get her scent on it, to let everyone know "it's mine" or they roll on/in things to get the scent of what they are rolling on/in on THEM.

I agree that it's to get their scent on the item and claim it, or to get the scent of the item on them.

In human terms this would be the equivalent of getting your dream gift for Christmas and yelling, "I love it! I love it! It's just what I wanted!"

You may want to look for another frog toy for your dog. The day will come when the frog she has now just needs to be thrown away.

basically a dog is kinda like a child if you take a favorite toy away from a kid he/she throws a fit same with dogs. my dog has a stuffed dog that he absolutely loves and takes it everywhere and when i take it away he throws a fit and can't stand it. Just like when you were a child I'm sure you had a favorite stuffed animal or toy that you abused just from always playing with it. same thing applies. hope this helps

She is displaying territorial behavior- this could cross over to other things, so you might want to get a little training in to show her who controls the house. This article applies to food, but also other guarding behavior:

She is marking it and claiming it as hers! Her rolling on it is putting her sent on to it letting other animals know it is hers its instinct. It is a high value possession to her a good tool to use to teach her tricks or train her. Use it as a reward!!

She wants to share her smell with it. She either wants it to smell more like her or she wants to smell more like the toy.
I think she's letting the world know that it's hers. She wants to become one with the frog..lol
