Stay away from her as much as possible. Just because you are in laws does not mean that you have to act like friends. Just stay away and be polite when you are around her. Don't initiate conversation because you know that it will only cause problems.

They can be a real pain in the a** that's for sure. I have one myself that I can't stand to be around. I still go to be a part of the family, but it is hard. I have pretty much ignored her and had a good time. Last year at Christmas, we all drank and had a good time. It upset her and she left. If she sees that it doesn't bother you (whatever she does) it will make her even madder.

I kept quiet and took her crap until I finally blew up and told her off. She was so ignorant the hubby actually disowned her for a while. She's since learned her lesson and leaves us out of her gossip, drama, and craziness. We are polite if we happen to bump into each other but we don't call or get together. Avoidance seems to work best when people can't respect you or your boundaries.

I just don't have much to do with her. I mean what else can you do? Be polite when with the family and keep distance when you don't have to be with her.

just be friendly, not overly... you don't have to like her... you're not married to her.

families sometimes have personality conflicts, and sometimes the reasons are unknown... just gather your dignity and act like a lady around her... and move on.

take care too!
