There are a ton of books out there that explain the difference between an illusion and a trick. Criss Angle is a master at illusion and it's not something that you can learn over night. I don't think you would want your first illusion to try float above the Pyramid light bean in Las Vegas. Some of the hands on tricks that he does I could explain, but when he gets run over by a steam roller in a parking lot, that's why he is the master of illusion.
I've dabbled in a little magic and it can take hours of practice to get everything just right. It's fun to dazzle your friends with a good card trick. I would start with a deck of cards and learn all you can. The cost of a deck of cards is allot cheaper than some elaborate props to perform an illusion.
Go to Yahoo and see what you can find just by typing in magic tricks or illusions.

There are so many kind of magic, card magic, cigarette routine, stage magic, coin magic, etc etc
Lets talk about criss angle cigarette routine
when he push the cigarette into his left hand, the last push actually pivot it into his right hand, and he palm the cigarette away, his left hand is empty, and he pretends to vanish the cigarette.
also, theres one way to palm a cigarette, between the middle of your thumb and your palm. you cannot see the cigarette from that direction. he pretends to move his hand and then appears to pull it out of thin air.
i can't remember exactly how criss did it, lol. he did it slightly different from the routine that I know. but its all the same thing. the cigarette never leave his hands.

It's all about illusions.
Start at the basics of magic showmanship and build up your skills. It takes years so if this a passing fancy; settle on some card tricks to wow your friends.
Other than that....check out Penn and Teller, much better than Angle!!

dude thats no real magic, its some cheap editing and game fixing plus expensive gadgets.
i am a magiciam also, im fond of tricks, illusions and the what so called magic.
these stuff are all tricks, try to visit a magic shop and you can buy all the stuff used by magicians, try to talk to a side kick of a migician and he will reveal all the secrects, in fact all the tricks performed by an illusionist is also known to his or her sidekick.
its all game fixing dude, thats why magic is not science its an art, its the art of entertaining, the art of acting.
try also to buy some books.

i'm sorry to be the one to tell you this but...he does STAGE MAGIC....real magic comes from within and is a force of nature just as gravity is. real magic is done everyday by everyone and they don't even realize it and few know how to harness it to work for them.
real magic is done whenever a child wishes for something...or when someone hopes and prays for the money to pay their bills and they get it.
you might wanna try looking online for stage magic websites. they might can lead you in the right direction.

He studies many different things. Body language, hypnosis( I believe could be wrong), psychology., etc. He then uses this knowledge to create the illusion of reality. It's not real, he's just very clever.

I think you mean optical illusions and camera tricks like cris angel. Its not real magic, only entertainment. Why do people think everything they see on tv is real these days?

DUDE CRISS ANGLES SUCKS!
omg i watched some of his videos they are so lame. This one where he was levitating like over a gap in between two buildings and in the background you see some people yelling "HOLY S*** WTF?!" that guy really sucks man compared to david blaine he is so sloppy. if you want to do real magic watch blaine.

You can do it if you cheat (duh). Everyone knows that he's a fake and he just uses video editing to make things look like they happened when they show it on tv. He's cheap.
