Any of you have Parents or Siblings that are Drug Addicts / Alcoholics? If so....?

Do you think you will fall in the same path or have they been the example for you not to touch that crap?

a person who is raised in an alcoholic home, or one where there is substance abuse present, has a bigger chance of following the same path.

many of us, it seems, are predisposed to becoming addicts, if we are not careful... science seems to think there is a gene which may cause this?

one way for help and guidance is to try Alanon or OPEN Narcotics Anonymous meetings. These meetings are in place for support of people who are affected by those with addictions... i hope that something like this will help.

My step mom is a recovering alcoholic. I would say that she has deffinatly been an example for me not to touch the crap. Seeing the way she treated my dad when she was drunk, me when she was drunk, and how irresponsible she was with my nieces, I would never want to get to that point. She got mad at my dad, started a fight and got him arrested when he deffended himself from her rage. She won't talk to me and turned my step sister against me, she has treated my younger sister like crap.
I am not gonna touch the stuff.
Seeing her like that has made me make the choice to stay away from drugs, alcohol and tobacco for life.

my dad is an addict. my cousin was an addict.
im 16 i messed around with some stuff.

i lived in a shop with my dad where he sold meth. he is now 2yrs clean.

but i would say yes if you are raised around the whole drug scene i tihnk you have a higher chance of becoming an addict than someone who wasnt raised that way.
