Yes, you should be concerned. Watch his/her behavior closely and watch for it to come out the other end. If he starts becoming lethargic, stops eating and/or drinking, vomiting or not having a bowel movement, you need to take him to the vet immediately. It may get bound up in the intestines.

More than likely if the dog hasn't choked on it, then the dog has successfully swallowed the ribbon and it will come back out the other way in its due course. But if you are really concerned (and can afford it) then by all means take your dog to the vet. But most likely your dog will be just fine. In very rare cases it could possibly get tangled in the intestines but again very unlikely. I am sure little rover will "dispose" of the ribbon later. Good luck.

If you have an emergency vet you should call them and see if they'll advise you. Most likely this will move through and come out okay...the concern is that in the twists and curves of the intestines that it could get wrapped around a bend and cause obstruction. Symptoms are sudden onset of appetite loss, vomitting, diarrhea, lethargy. An emergency vet may recommend inducing vomitting. At the clinic I worked we advised people in a pinch to use peroxide. IF you take a small cupful and poor down your dogs mouth, it will generally cause them to vomit, including anything recently ingested. If I were you though, I would contact your vet or EM vet for a professional's recommendations. Best wishes.

I would be on alert about it, but I wouldn't be too concerned. My dog chews, eats, digests everything (full socks to tinfoil) and she gets through okay everytime.

Just watch for any signs of discomfort. Eventually your dog will poop it out or the other way around. However, if you note that he's not going poo properly and stuff like that, you should get your vet.

Hope this helps.

It may pass through fine. Here's a page to read up on in case your doggie starts choking:

I'm sure he'll probably be okay. If he appears to be having digestive problems, take him to the vet...otherwise just wait for it to....pass.
