Get a trim every 6 weeks, or whenever you see split ends...Wash your hair as least as possible. Once every 2-4 days in the winter. On the days that you dont use shampoo, just rinse it with water, put some conditioner on the ends if it feels dry. Also you a leave in conditioner mainly on the ends, Sallys makes a good one, and use PLACENTA HOT OIL treatment at Sallys. It works 100x better than VO5 or suave hot oil treatments. Try to use hot styling tools as least as possible & if you do use them, use a HEAT PROTECTANT SPRAY. Deep condition, Deep condition, Deep condition! The more hot tools you use ie blow dryers, straightening irons, the more conditioners you willl need. Also a wide tooth comb is one of the best investments you can make to protect your hair when its wet. Never brush it wet and never rub your hair with a towel, just pat it dry. Good luck and happy holidays!! :)

I used to have very long hair, I used to straighten it & I had very few split ends because I trimmed it regularly. My hair is shoulder length now & I straighten it more & I have just gone through it now & found 1 split end. I trim my hair every four to five weeks & it's in amazing condition. I don't use any fancy products on it apart from treseme heat protection spray. I use Avon advance techniques anti dandruff 2 in one shampoo & conditioner. The only reason I don't use separate conditioner is that it makes my hair greasy.
The only advice I can give you is trim it often & don't mess about with it too much. I have never dyed my hair but I have used micro rings to add a small weft of colour to my hair, it's easier, quicker & less harmful to me, my hair & the environment.

Moisturize, Moisturize. Stop blow drying, and using brushes and heating elements that straighten the hair by delivering direct heat to the hair. If you need heat to straighten try curling irons or flat irons which straighten without using direct heat.

Also, protein is essential for healthy hair. Try Aphogee protein deep conditioner treatment and Aphogee keratin 2 minute reconstructor. Aphogee protein treatment has to be used with caution because when you apply it you have to use a dryer to cause it to stiffen on your hair...you must not agitate the hair. Once you rinse, use the 2 minute reconstructor. Style as usual.

Aphogee will correct any hair problems instantly! It can be used on all hair types. Usually, three treatments are effective on really damaged hair.

Hi hun , the best way to prevent split ends is to get your hair trimmed regularly . If you are using straightners always use a protection aid first , try not to use them every day as this will damage your hair badly . A cheap and easy conditioning treatment is to cover your hair in conditioner (any cheap on will do) DONT wet your hair first , put lots on so its soaking , then cover in cling film , use a hair dryer to warm it up (which opens up the cuticles ) leave on as long as you can , even over night if you can . then rinse well . your hair will be lovely and soft . good luck and merry xmas

use a protection spray first before using straighners or tongs. i use tresemme which i find helps.
once a week use a deep moisturising ttreatment on your hair you can get some that concerntrate on the ends.
also regular trimmimg.
dont straighten your hair every day if you do it twice a week properly by sectioning it all of spend a good amount of time doing it, this will last may have a couple of stray hairs some days just do them.
i have wavy thick coarse hair i find the longer i spend doing it properly then rushing it the longer the straighned hair lasts.
and finally when done use a serum in your hair just a bit pull down to ends of hair bit by bit.

Split ends are caused when hair is damaged, either by harsh shampoos, too much direct from the sun or a hair dryer, perming or bleaching or very often simply because the tips of hair are very old.
If you already have split hair do a slight trim and do the following homemade tips to avoid further splits. Remember to keep hair healthy and treat it with great care.

Split End Treatments:

Mix 1 tsp honey with 2 Tbsp olive oil, then beat in 1 egg yolk. Massage on hair in small sections. Wrap head with shower cap for 30 minutes. Rinse and shampoo.

Massage hair and scalp with warm avocado or olive oil. Wrap hair securely in a towel. Leave oil on hair about 8 hours or overnight. If left on overnight, put a shower cap over head to avoid staining pillows and bedding. Wash hair, then rinse with a vinegar /water solution.

There is no true way to remove split ends aside from trimming it. But you can control it to happen again by proper care. However, there are times when you do not want to cut your hair. For example, when growing out a short hair cut you'll just have to bite the bullet and let it get past that awful in-between stage. Rather than removing split ends, you can make them much less visible.

1. Unless you have extremely oily hair you do not have to wash your hair every day. If you feel that you must wet your hair each day, do just that, wet it. After wetting, use a light conditioner. It is the shampoo that dries out your hair.

2. If you "blow out" your hair, use a leave-in product that contains silicone, like Sebastian Laminates Crema Styler Anti-Frizz Control. Dry hair until it is about 85% dry. Now start the straightening process, with the dryer on medium heat. Do NOT use a round brush (hair tends to get stuck and break off). Use a paddle brush and keep the brush facing down.

3. If you have curly hair, again you want silicone. Try Sebastian Laminates Curl, and let your hair air dry. If you must blow dry, use medium heat with a diffuser.

4. Finish off with a smoother containing silcone, like Paul Mitchell Gloss Drops.

5. Keep your hair healthy. Use a good shampoo and conditioner. Sometimes .99 Suave works great, sometimes you'll have to cough up a bit more. Try different shampoo/conditioners and see what works.

6. Leave in conditioners are good for people who have excessively dry or damaged hair and can prevent split ends.

7. Eat healthy! Have a good dose of good fats in your diet. It'll keep your hair healthy, among other things.

8. Make sure to keep your hair trimmed, it'll keep the split ends problem at a minimum and keeps you looking groomed.

9. Avoid the blow-dryer! Go ahead and use it occasionally, but if you use it too often and/or at high heat, you can fry your hair, causing tons and tons of split ends.

10. Use regular Coconut oil in its pure form and apply to your hair the night before you wash your hair. Leave it on through the night.

11. Use of 1:1 portion of Castor and Coconut oil is suggested to increase the Vitamin E content. Castor Oil by itself is believed to strengthen hair and increase hair growth.

Don't brush or comb from roots to ends. One it can hurt! and Two can snap hair off where it finds a tangle. Brush/comb the bottom ends of the hair first. Usual common sense with conditioners, not too much heat (let dry naturally whenever possible).

Yoiu may find it hard to believe but the main reason for split ends is brushing your hair when it's wet. (Hairdressing College and 30 years in the Business)
Comb your hair when you come out of the bath or shower.
You will notice the difference.

Trim your hair every few months, shower and nourish your hair daily. And if you use heating methods for example, a flat iron, you should put in some ointments bought at the store to treat your hair.

Make sure to use conditioner and use a wide tooth comb when combing wet hair. Try not to focus a lot of heat on your ends when blow drying. If you use a curling iron or flat iron use a smoothing serum or spray shine to help seal the cuticle. If you flat iron leave hair slightly damp that way you will steam your hair flat and not burn it.
