At this point, I think they shine the light on me so that all the world may behold a drowning man.

I sure do..one of the first songs that I heard after I got saved was this beautiful song by The Hinsons....
The Lighthouse
By Ronnie Hinson
(c) 1971
There's a lighthouse on the hillside
That overlooks life's sea.
When I'm tossed it sends out a light,
Tis a light that I might see.
And the light that shines in darkness now
Will safely lead us o'er.
If it wasn't for the lighthouse,
My ship would be no more.
And I thank God for the lighthouse,
I owe my life to Him.
For Jesus is the lighthouse
And from the rocks of sin;
He has shone a light around me
That I could clearly see,
If it wasn't for the lighthouse
Tell me where would this ship be.
Everybody that lives around us
Says tear that lighthouse down.
The big ships don't sail this way anymore,
There's no use of it standing around.
Then my mind goes back to that stormy night,
When just in time I saw the light;
Yes the light from that old lighthouse
That stands up there on the hill.
And I thank God for the lighthouse,
I owe my life to Him.
For Jesus is the lighthouse
And from the rocks of sin;
He has shone a light around me
That I could clearly see,
If it wasn't for the lighthouse
Tell me where would this ship be.
If it wasn't for the lighthouse,
Tell me, where would this ship be?

Your link wouldn't let me look at the picture, but yes, I can see some spiritual significance in lighthouses. I see them as a guide that stands alone above a rough sea, guiding you through to safety. With that, I'm off to bed. (((VC)))

I am the lighthouse watching over my children. :)
It's funny, when they were little, I used to sit by them while they slept. If it looked like they were having bad dreams I would rub them and speak to them softly until they calmed. :) Although I love that they are now adults, I miss some of those sweet times.
Holy crap! Am I rambling or what? Sorry.
Edit:
Awww, Jack, that is so sad. :(

Absolutely. Lighthouses are modern icons used to sympolize the light of Jesus which shines through the darkness guiding your way safely home.

No.
Try pasting the link without the http:// in front of it. Then we can cut-n-paste the text without it being cut short.
