Well, we are exposed to a lot of radiation, smog, smoke, pollution, our foods are not organic, and many, many other factors that contribute to this.

There are a few reasons why *reported* rates of cancer have increased:
1. Diagnostic technology is better now than ever. So things that were previously missed or never diagnosed as cancer are being noted as such.
2. People are living longer than ever. As we age, our bodies' cells become damaged (from external pollutants as well as just plain wearing out) and become more prone to becoming cancerous.
3. Environmental pollutants...although many have not been *proven* as causes

The rates of cancers have not gone up according to imformation compiled by the American Cancer Society. Cancer rates have been declining since the early 90's for virtually all major forms of cancer. The biggest reason for this has been improved early detection and the development of many new forms of aggressive treatment and the advent of new medical technology for detecting and treating cancers.

One reason cancer rates have gone up has to do with the mind.
We are bombarded with headlines and scare tactics about cancer constantly, in the news,
on TV, in magazines, we all know someone who has got "it".
This translates into stress and fear, and it has been established that a trauma or shock can trigger cancer, as well as a fearful negative attitude. Good news for drug companies, and add to the fear our unhealthy food and so on it's a wonder we get past thirty.
So, what to do.... think healthy, eat healthy and act healthy, and instead of reading gossip trash magazines, watching TV and scary negative DVD's or films, get some fresh air and exercise and live life.
