Without any manufactuers markings and several dozen After Market 1911A frame manufacturers, there is no way to trace your "unmarked" frame.A number is just not enough....Sorry

That is odd, I think that manufacturers of gun receiver would have to mark their names on the receiver along with a serial number. This is because the BATF considers the receiver the "whole gun", and to purchase one, you fill out the federal form 4473, and go through a background check like you would to buy any gun from a FFL dealer.
There is a law which permits a person to build his own gun, if he puts in the proper paper work with the BATF.Maybe this is one of these types of receivers made by an individual under these circumstances.

the 1911 -a1 is made by springfield armory.the springfield does not have a us property marking. it is a colt that has the us property marking.go to the springfield armory web site.it is full of info.
