I am 17 1/2 and I got my permit today without the driver ed and driver training. I want to ask do i still need to do the 6 hour training and 50 hours training with parents? Do I get a adult license when I take the driving test when I am 18? (california dmv)

Why didn't you just ask the DMV?

Read the driver's manual you should have picked up at the DMV or check the California DMV site. Every state has its own laws. So you cannot always depend on what you see here. Even if someone says they are from California, they could be wrong.

I'm pretty sure that regardless of your age you have to do the 50/6 hours. Otherwise people with no driving training could get their license. Visit your DMV website, that should answer all your questions.

From what I remember once you're 18 you can walk in and take the written and behind the wheel test and get your license.
