This is the religious section, right? The section where subjects as war, abortion, sexuality, world politics, euthanasia, eternal punishment and the meaning of life and afterlife are discussed, right?

How is it possible that everybody remains so friendly in this section, with all those tough subject? Subjects with so many possible different opinions. How do you people manage to stay so civilized?

Sorry, I get so tired of 5 times an hour reading (and every time disagreeing with) "why is everybody so mean to each other?", I figured it was time to post a question like this.

Great question. I personally try to filter the meanness and try my best...which is not a lot time to time...to not to be mean back to people. However, we do not have a voice with answers, so an angry person can read my answer in a angry way and take it totally in a different way intended. I think that is why Jesus said that it is importnt to Him that we love one another because it really makes things different when we care about each other. Everyone is never going to be agreeing on everything. This is an open discussion column where people can discuss on hard issues of life. I think we should try our best to hear each other out. We all are going through something and if we try, maybe we can help each other out...and make one person's life a little bit better that day.

Yes, I agree.

And also, "USA is A-OKAY!" And our media is more "fair and balanced" than some other Democracies...like the The Democratic People's Public of Korea aka North Korea.

So why all this negativity?

Is the glass half empty or half full? It's a glass containing liquid. Cheers! It is what it is...or is it?

It's because we've all put our petty ideological and theological differences aside in order to show peace, love, and acceptance for our fellow humans, who have as much a right to their beliefs as we have of ours. We all strive to reach the greater common good here, not just the good that most benefits our own particular beliefs. Aren't we great?

Edit: Just so you know, I am a Confirmed Atheist that believes all religions should be considered equal.

I think you are right. Everyone behaves nicely here (except for the occasional hell threat from JesusFreaks and other mentally challenged people). But generally everyone is quite nice. If you want to see real war go to a dedicated Christian forum and you'll see what ugly means. It's diversity that keeps this place civilized.

What?! I've just been savaged by a wild pack of wiccan supporters. They seem to think they have a reasonable edge over the christians because they aren't dogged by the insane anti-logic of the trinity.
They could all settle their differnces if they just acknowledged that they all accept myths; differing myths to be sure, but myths all the same.

If people are truly spiritual what ever their belief system may be they will demonstrate compassion toward one another. This is the main ingredient of all the main belief systems.

Sigh. I knew this place would go to hell without me. Why, oh, why did I neglect R&S for two whole days.

They deleted my answer about having another *drink, in the most friendly way. I was delighted!
You can't really find such good people anywhere else except in R&S.
Thank you fellas for deleting good questions & answers. I feel soooo good about you.

I generally like people.

I don't try to be mean, although sometimes it just happens.
