On international flights first class has flat bed seats, with real pillows and duvets to make ones seat feel just like a bed. The seat is also very wide with multiple reclining posistions. The meals are also a huge step up from business class, as they are served on real plates and one has many fantastic choices, such as lobster, steak, etc. Also the fa's (flight attendants) are much more attentive because there is only 8-12 people in your cabin, making the noise level extremely low.
Business class is not as nice as first class, but is a HUGE step up from economy. Business class seats are wider, more spacious/comforable, and have a much better recline, making it alot easier to sleep. Also meals are served on glassware, and there are multiple choices, all of which are delicious. Also your ife(in flight entertainment) is on demand, meaining you can stop or fast forward your movies. Where buisiness class is different from first is there usually is 30-45 people per business cabin, making much more crowded and less attention from the fa's. Also your seat is far less comfortable, and only few business class seats recline into a bed.
Economy if you have the money or miles should be avoided on long haul flights (8+ hours) It is small cramped, and hard to sleep on. The meals are terrible, and so is the service. You do get your own tv, but that is it. Economy leaves you feeling terrible when you get off the flight, whereas when you get off the flight after being on first or business you feel great and refreshed.

On most domestic flights with 2-class cabins, first class is not much better than economy. FC has larger seats with more legroom, only 2 seats per side rather than 3, leather seats with individual entertainment units and large choice of movies, and the food is a choice of two decent main courses. Complementary alcoholic drinks and wines. And a higher ratio of flight attendants to passengers - usually 2 or 3 FAs.

On 3-class international flights (US airlines), First Class is very spacious with fold-flat sleeper seats, private entertainment units, more flight attendants, better food than
Business Class and sometimes an amenity kit to make the flight more comfortable. Only one seat at the windows and one or two in the center of the cabin - with lots of space. Most people who fly First Class either pay the full fare, or upgrade from Business Class. FC seats are very profitable for the airlines.

Business Class service is in-between FC and economy. 2 seats along the windows and 2 or 3 in the center aisle. Leather seats recline fairly well, but a few airlines are upgrading their BC seats to flat-fold style. Individual entertainment units at each seat with many movie and radio channels. Food service is not quite as good as FC, but you still get a choice 2 or 3 entrees, complementary alcoholic drinks and wine and nice dessert choices.

Quite a few passengers in Business Class upgraded their economy seats using frequent flyer miles, so it's a nice way to receive near-First Class service at little additional cost. And on 10 hour intercontinental flights, Business Class makes the flight endurable.

first class is very spacious, seats recline to a bed, great service. business is less spacious seats don't recline as far, sorta crowded. economy is the least spacious, and most crowded. but this all really depends on the airline.
