The difference between the composition of carbon in comparison between mass and wieght is that mass will always be the same amount, while weight may change based on the conditions, such as gravity and pressure and temperature. Certain materials are affected differently by the happenings of nature and controls and will cause the weight to be different while mass remains constant.

Carbon content in material composition,let us take 10 gms of solid CO2(dry ice), co2= 12 + 2 x 16=44
so 44 gms co2 contains 12 gms carbon by weight & for calculating mass you have to divide it by 9.81(weight should be in kg)
