What do they expect you to make for a Christmas brunch? A stripper giving Santa a lap-dance?
Hey, that's not a bad idea......

I'm a Catholic, and I would LOVE to see an ice sculpture of the Madonna and Child (the Virgin Mary is commonly called the Madonna when she's with the baby Jesus) ... and it's 'melting' would make it even more special to me. I'm sorry you couldn't do this ... but keep trying, because frankly, being Politically Correct just SUCKS sometimes ... as is illustrated by your desired sculpture and being told it's Politcally Incorrect. BAH HUMBUG. Christmas is the celebration of the BIRTH of the baby Jesus ... and we can't show a depiction of the mother and child because it's not politically correct. Thank you for being a good and sensible Pagan, and showing people how 'ridiculous' this politically correct business is.

This whole "Happy Holidays" thing is being taken too far. We're trying to appease the masses by avoiding saying or wriitng "Christmas". With even being non-religious myself, I recognize that "Christmas" celebrates the biblical birth of Jesus Christ" ...
If you are a firm believer in the cause, then go ahead and build your intended ice sculpture (a marvellous undertaking, by the sounds of things ...). If you'd rather not face the flack, just do an ice sculpture of a tree (there is no way that a so-called "Holiday Tree" can be deemed as politically incorrect).

I would have to know what group was having this brunch to really have an idea of how far this one really goes. If you were doing it for some Catholic group, then that's pretty ridiculous. Other sects of Christianity see any image of a holy figure as being a graven image and therefore sacrilegious. If it's for a secular group, why would you waste your considerable time and talent to make such an involved piece where it wouldn't be appreciated? Outside of this situation, I have to say that America has gone ridiculously far in so many ways when it comes to political correctness; and I'm a liberal!

It makes good business sense to be careful that no one is offended.
Personally I would love to see what you could do with an ice sculpture of the baby Jesus and Mary. I think it would be quite beautiful. but I do understand management's point.

Everyone is too politically correct now. I wouldn't be offended by a Yule log even though I'm not pagan. If I attended a pagan celebration, I'd have to expect to see their religious symbols.
Most people who celebrate Christmas don't really want the Christian theme taken out of it. Even if they're not religious, they're not as offended by it as most people assume they will be.
Of course you'll probably have to do as your told if you want to keep the job.

I don't understand, what's the relation of politics in a simple sculpture supposed to represent Christmas ("Politically wrong" why?!). If it is Christmas then a sculpture of Jesus and Mary is perfect to represent it, then what?!
Don't stand down except if it is risky for your career, be free my friend. Nothing to judge here, it's simple, Christmas represents the birth of Jesus and it's proper to do this sculpture if you like to do it.

Yes we have gone far enough, and it is likely in ignorance. I think you should just go with your ice sculpture plan, who cares what others think. Its Christmas time what a "cool" way to show your holiday spirit.

YES, we have definitely gone WAY TOO FAR. EVERYTHING has to be politically correct which is WRONG. But they have the easy defense side ... a business has to worry about offending someone and losing business. This is why the PC people have it made ... all they have to do is say that it offends someone, and business' will avoid it like the plague.
