I heard from someone that a PS2 will overheat if you play it while it's on the carpet. Is this true?

I wouldn't recommend putting the PS2 on the carpet because it may get a little warmer than usual. Just get a book or something flat and put the PS2 on top of that.
But yes you can put a PS2 on the carpet, but I have never had mine directly on the carpet, I have always had my PS2 on a hard flat surface.

Yes. It'll "sink" in your carpet, vents will be blocked - overheat. Also it'll attract a lot of dust into your PS2. Why don't you take a piece of wood, ceramic tile, even a large exercise book and put it underneath?

You really shouldn't. Eat sucks up carpet fibers and gets it all clogged up with dust. If you need to sit it down on the floor just use a big shoe box to sit it on top of to keep it off the carpet.
