Hang on their young mind expanding friend. Our senses bring us back to the physical. Sure, I think therefore I am but in addition to that there is connection in the physical sense that allows us a realistic argument for the physical.

Oh by the way I dig that you asked this question here. Don’t worry about the rest of the closed minded robots that will be telling you to ask this question elsewhere and very likely giving me thumbs down.

Anyway back to your question, the fact that there is an almost precognition of our senses does cloud the matter a bit, I'll grant you that. But, or sensory system is an extension of our mind so, it does in itself branch beyond itself to gather information and pleasure.

Add to this a simple experiment that you have already conducted. Where were you before you were born? The mind arises from the biological brain. The mind does seam to be able to rise above the biological but there is no evidence that the mind continues past the life of the biological brain.

Consciousness, in particular higher consciousness that is currently considered human only brand of consciousness does allow us to separate the mental self from the physical self to some extent. However, I am not convinced that some of the proponents of enlightened consciousness could not be diagnosed with the parameters of the DSM IV as delusional or perhaps something else. The Universal Consciousness that those speak about either does not emit a measurable signal or we as specie don't know what to look for. To me, deduction would suggest that if our minds emit an energy pattern that is detectable with an EKG then a Universal All Knowing Mind that is the center of the Universal Consciousness would emit some detectable level of energy.

This is a non-question. We only have access to what is represented in our mind (and pure consciousness), but it can be inferred that something is instantiating those representations that every observer has access to; i.e., there is some "external world, we just know it indirectly by how (and that) we experience it. So existence is independent from mind, but experience is decided by both sides of the equation, our mechanisms of experience and whatever is "out there". Now, though existence is mind independent, it may not be consciousness independent. Mind and consciousness are not the same. (1) More evidence is needed to make any tuth claim one way or the other on the relationship of consciousness to existence.

Rene Descartes asked these questions a few hundred years ago. He finally made the famous quote, "I think, therefore I am." He concluded that because he was able to reason, that he must be real and not just the figment of someone else's imagination.
Descartes is famous for his ponderings of reality. His profound statement above came after he determined that the reality of an object exists at the point when that object first becomes a concept of the mind.

Existence can be felt if the mind is awakened. Strictly speaking you can only smell fragrance if your smelling sensory nerves are functional otherwise you cant smell. It is the life within the matter which prompts people like you to ask such questions. Forgive me for this. Universe without God is unthinkable.
