Here's the situation...the guy I like works 12-15 hour days regularly at his law firm. He has a ton of cases right now. His work is VERY demanding and unpredictable. He's asked me if I've finalized my New Year's Eve plans yet didn't ask me out. When I asked him if he had made plans yet, he said "no," and that I should go ahead and make plans with my friends if I can but that he "hopes" that we do end up spending NYE together. What the heck does that mean? First, I know he's not waiting for another girl...he usually just hangs out with his brothers. Here are my questions...does this mean I'm the last resort plan? Does it mean that he just doesn't know if he'll be able to get away due to work deadlines? Should I assume it's that guy thing where they prefer to wait until the last minute because NYE isn't a big deal to them??? Serious answers only please.

It means that work might tie him up this NYE. It means that if he could be with anyone on that night, it would be with you. He hopes he can make the time. Its your choice. Go with a lawyer or find some unemployed guy living with his mom to spend your time with.
Ive worked many a NYE and wasn't happy about any of them but extremely glad to have a job. If only I could have been a lawyer.

I am assuming that your young man is a fairly new junior associate. You've already said he works 12-15 hours a day, and his superiors would probably prefer he work 18 hours.

You've also said he has tons of cases, so you already know he is up to his ears in legal work. He just doesn't know if he will be able to do anything on New Year's Eve besides slave over a stack of briefs getting ready for a court date the next week.

If you can't handle the fact that he is driven to achieve, you might as well find another guy. He will be working like this for several more years, at least until he makes partner.

Sounds straight up to me. He is a busy man and if he is free he'll let you know but beware of getting involved in a relationship cus business will probably always come first for this guy, but if he has alot of money that may make up for it. Good Luck!!!

NYE is not a big deal.It is really amateur night for idiots who cannot handle themselves.I prefer to stay home where its safe and just relax with some close friends.Dont put too much into it.Its just another day.
