Enigma, I KNOW for a fact that any of us are capable of anything. Given the "right" circumstances including but not limited to threats to our survival and the effects of greed, jealousy, drugs, booze, lust, rage, etc, along with mental illness or lack of conscience, anything goes. For anyone. I am ( I hope) past the point of causing more harm than in former times. But I shudder to read what goes on in war as well as on the home front. And I hope always to remember that when I point one finger at others, the other four are pointing back at me.

A little bit of both actually. I used to think I wouldn't be capable of a lot of things.
Then I had kids. I learned I am capable of just about anything.
Unfortunatly, so are most people out there.

I don't have to think it over that carefully. There were seriously times when I thought I would actually kill my children. Sleep deprivation or whatever, but I know in some of those moments I could have snapped and been another news story. I know what I'm capable of and that's far more terrifying than anything anyone else could possibly do.

Peace to you and to all.

I'd have to say society. While I realize that I can have some pretty bad thoughts, that's all they are. So I know what I'm capable of. However, other people are a different story.

To be honest, I would never knowingly hurt another.
BUT
well to put it out there I truly don't know..I can see what others are capable of and it disgusts me. I know that I would never be capable of hurting a child, I think with me it is pure instinct that would stop me. I sometimes get afraid of the rage that I have locked in a steel vault, buried deeply and thrown away the key..I worry what I will do if that ever ever gets out. To be honest I would probably self-destruct before taking it out on others but we never know until we are faced with the actual situation.
I hope that I never find out...I truly hope...

What people in society are capable of. Even though I am capable of doing harm, I know myself good enough to know I could never bring my self to do what I know others could do. I can control myself but not others.

I'd have to say what I am capable of, because I feel that we are all capable of great kindness and great evil, including myself of course.
As a Christian I know that I will be held accountable for my own sins and transgressions, not society's.

Society very much mostly because of the technology, like satellites. The cameras in satellites can probably see me right now typing up this message at this very moment, And i wouldn't even know. Also, Area 51 scares me because noone knows anything about it, but we've heard rumours about alien technology and all that, which scares me even more.... As well Korea or Iraq can send a nuclear bomb down on us at any moment and even if it is intercepted half the world would blow up, which to me, and probly eveyone else, is pretty devistating...

Think it over carefully before answering? Are you serious?

I would never have thought of flying a commerical airliner into the World Trade Center.

People. I'm way past the age of heinous acts. If something bad happens to me, it's me, not them.

I made it through Hurricane Katrina, including the loss of my father, and am still dealing with the aftermath in my family. No anger, just a roll up the sleeves and keep working at it attitude.
