Lately, I have been reading a good number of articles regarding very poor police work around Will County. First, there was Drew Peterson whom had two wives die under very suspicious circumstances. As I have been watching this story unfold, it seems that some Peterson's friends on the police force weren't exactly interested in thoroughly evaluating the death of his third wife. Then, there is another case in which a person won a 15.5 million dollar judgement against the Will County sheriffs dept for being falsely accused of the crime (Chicago Tribune lead story). To me, this indicates a pretty serious problem involving a fairly large segment of the police down in the Will County area. Am curious about the various opinions I will get regarding the police in this case.

As for Drew Peterson, my guess is that being a police officer and knowing in detail about how crime works and how crimes are solved he did a pretty good job making his second wife's death look like an accident and his third wife just go away.

Kevin Fox, the man who won 15.5 million, was very much wronged by the Will County sheriff's office. If I remember correctly the sheriff was up for reelection that year and he wanted to appear tough on crime by solving Riley Fox's murder quickly. How they could coerce her own father into admitting he killed her is awful! And then they submitted his DNA to a lab and took months to get it back (very likely on purpose) while he sat in jail looking like a villain to everyone he knew.

Very sad and obviously some very corrupt people working there.

You are getting all your information from the media. They often try to be first with the rumor and maybe follow up with the truth. There is an old says "If it bleeds, it leads".

I bet many of those who are ready to hang Peterson now, were ready to hang the other guy when that news first came out. All their news was from the media.

Police sure can make a mistake or even be corrupt, but do not be too quick to judge them or an accused based on what you hear or see in the media.

See yet another good reason to remove all attorneys who might want to fairly write guidelines then flow by the books and remove them and the judges which couldn't uphold the present ones.
