The "Historical" Jesus was named Yeshua, or Yehoshua, depending on your pronunciation of the Aramaic version of Joshua. The name "Jesus Christ" is actually a Latinized version of the Greek title "Jezues Christos". This means "Son of the most high God (Jezues)", "King of Kings (Christos)". This is a title commonly given to the Emperor of Rome after he died. It has been used in many Roman documents after the "Deification" of the dead Emperor. The most well documented case of applying this title is the funeral laments of Emperor Augustus. After Emperor Augustus died, he was declared to have "Ascended to the heavens in a cloud" and proclaimed "Son of the most high God, King of Kings" AKA Jezues Christos.

Yeshua is the Hebrew name, and its English spelling is “Joshua.” Iesous is the Greek transliteration of the Hebrew name, and its English spelling is “Jesus.” Thus, the names Joshua and Jesus are essentially the same; both are English pronunciations of the Hebrew and Greek names for the Lord. (For examples of how the two names are interchangeable, see Acts 7:45 and Hebrews 4:8 in the KJV. In both cases, the word Jesus refers to the Old Testament character Joshua.)

He is named after "Joshua" (Yeshua).
"Jesus" (or "Yes(h)us") is the Greek form of his name (the "a" is replaced with "s" to make it decline-able in Greek).
