I feel in love with someone and we broke up years ago and I still think of him, wonder how he is and I wonder if he still thinks of me as well. I've dated others and I believe I could love someone else if opportunity presented but I find myself comparing the new people to him. Weird?

I think if you really truly love someone you will always love them. Sometimes you just can't be with them. If they have moved on then so should you for your own sake. Just because you love someone doesn't me you can't love someone else that might come along in the future. It just meens you will have had the oppertunity to love twice. That would make you lucky because some people don't ever experience it at all. If you still can't forget her maybe its because theconection with the people you have been seeing since just can't hold a candle to the connection you had with her. No worries some one will come along it really hasn't been that long if it was a serious relationship. Good luck

Yeah, it's a lifetime thing, you'll learn to live with love. It can be repeated, and done wrong again btw. Further more, the type of people who will cause a love response in you, will always be around to bring more joy and happiness. It's best to give it a break for a while, do a few lonily Xmas's, and few ham sandwiches for Thanksgiving, to allow you time to change, you'll have to, currently, your instincts are getting you killed. Towards the event called maturity, you'll realize, "Whats Love Got To Do With It".?

Yes if you still love someone, no matter what happens you will still love someone.
But you have to ask yourself; why did you split up? could it work if you gave it another try? If that answer is yes, talk to the girl, see if she feels the same way.

Carl,
You're in a pit that you can never escape. If it was true love, it will always be there. I can tell you from direct experience, you never lose the feelings and it's terrible. If you find yourself comparing every other woman in your life to that one, and none measure up, it was 'the one'.
As time goes on it gets easier. But she will always be there in the back of your mind.

It's only been 6 months, give yourself a little time! Not only that, but dating other people is not how you "get over" someone. All your doing is trying to bottle the feelings up and that leads to keeping them and her fresh in your mind. Give yourself some time to heal from your loss and then get out and start dating again.

There's reason's for everything. That might be the most important truth that you carry with you in your life. When you can't forget, it's probably because there's an element that you shouldn't forget/something you're supposed to know, something............universal law requires that we pay attn. to our instincts, our still, small voice. Perhaps you have a meaningful role that you must play later on. Pay attn. and when it speaks, act.

Yes I would still love that person. If you can't forget about her then try to get back, you can give it another chance. Good Luck!

I know what you're going through. I was like that for about 3x's as long. Now, I'm not saying that you'll stay this way- we all have our amounts of time to heal, but I know you will get through this. many years later, I'm totally over my ex and couldn't be happier.
