RE:
what is the hardest wood in the world?
i have been told there was or is a wood that they use to use in ships for bearings. like ball bearing the shaft would go through the wood and it would hold up to the shaft turning the propeller.

Hi! good day! I'm sorry if my answer is not informative but I'll try my best to do it right.I don't know what is the hardest wood worldwide but in Philippines I know. The national tree of Philippines is the Nara because,in my an-sister,they say that Nara is a powerful tree,so that's why it was worshiped of pagans, the early Filipinos. Nara tree doesn't broken down even a powerful typhoon encountered this tree, so I think Nara tree is the hardest wood worldwide, but It's just an opinion.Yes your opinion was right! your so clever!I hope you like my answer.Thank you for listening.Have a nice day and MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A BLESSED NEW YEAR!!!!

In the US, hard (sugar) maple has been used for years (and still is) as bearings. It is hard and strong enough to support a lot of weight but porous enough to absorb grease. While being greasable, they can be run dry without serious damage.
