I am a Buddhist (I think my name gave that away) but lately I have had no time for studying about Buddhism, visiting my temple, or even meditating! (Homework Ugh!) I go to a private Catholic school and raised by Catholics so it's not like I can join a club, which ive heard of in other schools. (Although my parents are very supportive of my descision, they drive me to the temple) Anyway, I am planning durning Christmas Vacation, from Saturday Sunrise to Monday's sunset, I'm going to sort of meditate and study and go to the temple nonstop sort of like a spirtual weekend in a sense. Do you have any ideas or tips cause I got this idea off of a Buddhist website. Any ideas?

I do celebrate Christmas with my sisters and family and I do still go to church and follow some Catholic traditions.
Keep in mind I am only 13 before you answer. I can't go too far.

I've had the good fortune to do a number of solo retreats, from one day to three weeks in length. From these retreats, I learned an important lesson about setting time aside for intensive practice.
I recommend that you set a fixed schedule for each day (when to: get up, begin meditation, end meditation, walk, cook, etc.). Then follow that schedule precisely in every moment of every day.
In a solo retreat, the mind continuously invents reasons to stop the retreat and "mess around" with some other activity. After all, who would know if you messed around? You'll probably see your mind start this kind of thinking in the first hours of your first day.
But if you commit 100% to maintaining your schedule, no matter what, your practice will deepen and it will inspire you for months to come. Congratulations on your good idea!

there's a Buddhist retreat in Kentucky where you go for an entire weekend and meditate, study, do your Buddhist thang in general... I hear it's a weekend of fasting too.. Google it, maybe you'll find something... that would be a good thing to ask your parents for for christmas :)

I have an idea for your daily practice...
You don't have to do zazen at a temple. Just practice at home. Of course, you wont have the ceremony and the sanga but all you really need is a quiet place, a zafu and a wall. There is no good reason to not do zazen.

Have you read any Thomas Merton? He was a catholic monk who embraced Buddhism. I do not have any suggestions to you as far as your Christmas vacation plans, but I think it sounds like you are pursuing this in a thoughtful way.

That sounds like a good idea. A personal retreat of sorts.
Just make sure you use the time wisely.

It seems you have everything well thought out. Perhaps you could make an offering of gratitude for being blessed with such understanding and supportive family.
