Does Sorabji's 'In the Hothouse' actually mean 'In the Brothel'??????????????????????Maybe he meant something else, but the first time I saw the title, I was astonished to see somebody choosing it as a subject.

Al, I think you are confusing "hot house" with "cat house."
The title more likely refers to a place to cultivate exotic plants.

Well, I don't know where you live but where I am a 'hothouse' is a kind of glorified greenhouse where tropical plants are grown in colder climates. I'm not sure Sorabji was into the other kind of thing particularly.
