i am Muslim, and i believe that Adam ate the apple off the tree that God told him not to eat from. so he disobeyed god and was sinned. but i believe he has already been punishment. his punishment is to have to leave heaven, and live on earth until he dies. if he passes his test on earth, he will be entered back into heaven. Adams children will be tested as well.. if they obey God then we will go to heaven too.
if he didn't eat it, we might all be living in heaven right now.. instead of having to be tested. i believe that he ate the apple because the devil told him too. the devil pressured him too, and when he ate it, the devil was happy that he disobeyed God.

The idea comes from Gensis.
Christians interpret this story as a way of 'inheriting evil' (original sin) the exact opposite way Jews interpret the story (Jews say we're all born good, not evil). The Jews were the ones who wrote the book of Genesis and were also guided by God on how to interpret the writings by the oral teachings which later became written as the Talmud. The Christian version was guided by the church.
Another (mis)interpretation is that an 'eye for an eye' never meant to take out your eye for taking someone else's eye. It refers to monetary compensation. Christians don't believe in the Talmud (God's instructions on how to interpret the text), so most Christians view 'eye for an eye' literally while Jews again interpret it the exact opposite way.

Some that think they are Christians teach a child is a sinner at birth. I do not see where the Bible teaches that.
They claim to baptize babies and do not know the meaning of baptize is to plunge or dip or such. They sprinkle a tiny bit of water or oil over the baby and call that plunging under (baptize). To be baptized, a person must first believe. Check all records where baptism is taught. They must first believe - repent, etc. Have you ever seen a baby believe and repent, much less confess that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God? And, as I said, they claim to be Christians.

Yes, all people inherited sin from Adam and Eve, specifically Adam. Romans 5:12 speaks to this, “Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned.” Romans 5:19a declares further, “For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners…” Adam and Eve were made in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:26-27). As a result, all human beings are also in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 9:6). However, we are also in the image and likeness of Adam (Genesis 5:3). When Adam fell into sin, that resulted in every one of his descendants also being “infected” with sin (Psalm 51:5).
The fact that we are born sinners results in the fact that we all sin. Notice the progression in Romans 5:12: Sin entered the world through Adam, death follows sin, death comes to all people, all people sin because they inherit sin from Adam. Thankfully, Jesus Christ is the Savior from sin! “O wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 7:24-25a).

The doctrine of Original Sin refers to the effect of our first parent's sin, not the first sin comitted. The effect is that all of creation "fell" from perfection to imperfection. Now when anyone is born they inherit not just Mom's blue eyes, but her sin nature as well.
Cain inherited not only Adam and Eve's physical characteristics but their spiritual characteristics as well and on and on all the way down to us here on yahoo answers.

That is a doctrine called "Original Sin."
Most of the denominations descended from the 11th century Roman Catholic Church believe. Others don't. The doctrine is rejected by the Eastern and Oriental Orthodox Churches.

Sin entered the world when Adam and Eve disobeyed God. That is, we are each born with a sin nature. I am not to blame for Eve's sin, but for my own.
All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. We don't have to "inherit" any sin....if a person is honest, they know they have committed enough of their own to qualify as in need of salvation.
You may be thinking of the verse that the "sins of the fathers are visited upon the sons". If a man sins greatly, for instance, if he murders or cheats and is sent to jail, his children may suffer for his particular sin. There could be a stigma, or financial consequences, like that.

what it means is that because the mythical pair disobeyed the Bible god and ate of the Tree of Knowledge all humans must now come to know the difference between good and evil so are therefore not innocent animals that can not "sin".
"sin" is when you fail to meet certain criteria of conduct within a social grouping, especially a superstitious social grouping as the tribe of nomadic goat herders who originally told the Eden story most certainly were. and considering the endless rules of behavior the tribe of goat herders applied to themselves it was impossible not to "sin".
it wasn't so much the disobedience of the mythical pair that got them kicked out of paradise. it was that in eating the Knowledge Fruit they became self aware and had therefore become like their god (who was a plural entity at that time). so they had to be ousted from paradise before they could eat of the Tree of Life which would have made them immortal. i guess the Bible god doesn't like competition.
PS. Christians seem to skip over the part where the Bible god kicks Adam and Eve out of paradise because they had become "like God". for Christians it's only about the disobedience. the Bible god punishes his creation for acting on curiosity he himself installed. **shrug**
