Or engaging in christmas traditions? Like Christmas trees, exchanging gifts, etc. Considering that it was a usurped PAGAN holiday to begin with? Can't they see they're complaining about people doing the same thing they're doing?

Wow Danger, I thought you'd at least attempt to give an actual answer. Amazingly, as low as I had the bar set for you, you still managed to find a way to disappoint. It's a Xmas miracle.

Actually, Shaol, my point is that people should be allowed to practice whatever traditions or practices they want, for whatever reason they want, without having to hear anyone's hypocritical whining.

It is somewhat annoying. I work with a fellow who actually said that to me. I actually do not celebrate the Christmas that Christians celebrate. I call it Christmas because that is the word i grew up knowing the day as. I do have the day off. I do give some people Gifts. I do not however have a tree or any of that stuff. Of course those trappings should have nothing to do with the Christian version of Christmas in any case.

I'm a Christian and I agree.
I would like to think that there could be at least one time in the year when it just didn't matter what a person did or didn't believe.
The holidays, Christmas included, should be fun for everyone.
All I ask is that others allow me the right to put up a Christmas tree, and call it such, or put a Naivety scene in my yard if I choose. I don't even care whether or not my city hall puts one up, just don't tell my city hall it can't.
Someone else wants to put up a Menorah, that fine too.
Let's ALL just try to enjoy one day of the year without making it a federal crime

Yeah. I don't mind them having a holiday on the same as other pagan holidays, I do mind when they whine that the only true holiday is Christmas.
I just smile when Christians put up trees, decorations and other pagan traditions.
The other side of the coin: I love the charity work and feeling of fellowship this time of year. We had a great time at a Christmas tea luncheon yesterday.

Agreed. Can we all just get over it already?
This why JW's don't celebrate Xmas or Birthdays --they are both pagan in origin! If you wanted to go back to the 1st & 2nd century church you wouldn't celebrate them either!
So if we're going to take this touchy feely approach - ohhh..its all symbolic - then I say, Open Season for all! Nobody owns the holidays or traditions - they've morphed over time.
If we really want to celebrate Jesus' birth wouldn't we do it in the spring? Aren't they relatively sure he was born in the spring since that was when the census was taken back then?

Are you a pagan? On that day the pagans worshiped three sun gods. So according to your logic only Christians and people who worship three sun gods can celebrate Christmas.
Do you celebrate other religions holidays? Do you celebrate Ramadan for instance? All the Buddhist festivals? All the Jewish festivals? If you are not a pagan or a Christian then you should not celebrate Christmas. If you do, though, then you should celebrate every other religion's holidays. I'm only close to being a Christian so I only celebrate Christian holidays.
And also from your logic, the Romans entered their appointed office on January 1st. If you do anything on January 1st then you are a pagan Roman.

Everyone should celebrate Jesus' birth. No matter what date is is celebrated on. I think of the tree as a light to represent the star that shone on the world and announced His birth. The giving of gifts represents the gift He gave us by coming to this earth as a man to die and redeem us to God. I agree everything is so commercialized now. Spending this special season with family and celebrating is a wonderful time for everyone. Christian or non-christian.

What's even more annoying is when they scold me, a pagan, for celebrating the traditions that originated from my own group of religions.

Im Christian. I don't care that they celebrate it. I understand that it was a Pagan holiday. I live with a house full of non-Christians. I understand it is tradition.

I dont have a problem with it honestly, but if someone celebrates Christmas as Christmas and doesnt believe in Jesus it can get confusing. If someone celebrates december 25 its less confusing.
Merry Christmas to you all!

I celebrate Christmas as Christ's Birth. I'm sorry if you find this annoying- it may have been a PAGAN holiday- but that must have been a LONG time ago. Regardless, God knows my heart and why I celebrate Christmas.
