Ask Him for an interpretation of this dream or vision. To me it seems like you are to lead a flock of people and I don't know if this makes you a new person or you need to become this new person to lead these people. Your shadow is the person you used to be.

IF this was a vision and not some test you are propondering; then God who sends visions, can answer these better than any of us.
trees are typically the "end result" of what you have planted, birds can be angels or demons.., need more info for that one.
"Nesting" would mean they (the birds=angels or demons) are multiplying and becoming fruitful..(and since angels don't mate or marry or propogate.., sounds like demonic entities settling in; "mirrors" in a vision are to reflect back to us our true identity.. which was "a different person" which says you don't know who you are or don't recognize your true identity. IF you have a shadow who is a different person, you are walking with an attachment, an entity of evil. Shadows are colorless and IF it were godly it would be a halo/aura and live INSIDE, not be a shadow on the outside of you.
Don't know a thing about "stories", just about dreams and visions from God. IF this is from God, HE will explain it to you better than anyone.., "ASK and you will receive", Jesus told us. He said so and He can't lie.
If you are testing our literary knowledge on 'spiritual books and stories', I just flunked your test.

the tree and the birds-
Mark 4:31 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth: But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it. (mustard seeds do not sprout branches and cast shadows; this is implying something that is perverted, Jesus speaks of what is false).
Luke 8:5 A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it. (these birds are unclean spirits)
Revelation 18:2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. ( this is the false thing that grew from the mustard seed and the devlish birds that dwell therein).
but honestly i don't know how that applies to your vision. that was just the only scriptural thing i knew of that sounded familiar. good luck with it.
the mirror-?
* 1 Corinthians 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
the shadow-?
* James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. ( God doesn't change, but you do)

I think you should ask God to show you what he meant by the vision....although there were a few in the Old Testament that had the ability to tell someone what a vision meant,,,I don't know of anyone today who has that power or gift,,,,there are special gifts, given by the Holy Spirit to people,,,,here is a list of the gifts of the spirit..but I don't see one that is the gift of interpreting dreams or visions. Maybe someone can tell you different but I have never heard of anyone who could....and I am Pentacostal with the ability to speak in tongues....not the gift of tongues though,,I spoke in tongues when I received the Holy Spirit, just as they did in the bible in the book of Acts...
The gift of wisdom
The gift of knowledge .
The gift of faith
The gift of healing
The gift of miracles
The gift of prophecy
The gift of discerning spirits
The gift of tongues
The gift of interpreting tongues
The gift of administration
The gift of helps

Trees were used in Ezekiel 17:22 to symbolized kingdoms. And men/women in:
Jude 1:12 -- These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds [THEY ARE] without water, carried about of winds; TREES whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;
Birds symbolized demons in Mat 13:4, 19, 32; and Rev 18:2.
The only spiritual book you should consult for the interpretation of your dream/s is the Bible. Unless there is a trusted worker in your congregation with a "tested" gift for it, the only ONE you should ask for interpretation/s is God. You prayed and he gave you a dream; pray, and He will give the interpretation too.
Genesis 40:8 -- And they said unto him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is no interpreter of it. And Joseph said unto them, DO NOT INTERPRETATIONS BELONG TO GOD? tell me them, I pray you.
As a word of caution, we should also bear in mind:
Ecclesiastes 5:7 -- For in the multitude of dreams and many words there are also divers vanities: but fear thou God.
All that being said, my thoughts on your visions are:
1. You (being the tree), are allowing too many evil influences to "nest" with you and need to consult the the one who can help you clean them out.
2. You have a dual nature that you need to deal with.

It's not up to us to find out if what you saw was from God. You need to provide yourself with Biblical proof before you decide on a course of action.

Well they are not found in the bible. If you are living right, and are Christian, you should not seek out any other book or story. If you have another religion, I can not advise you.
