Wonderwall, you better find a better source than honestreporting. Palestine was very bucolic until the jews came in and covered it with strip malls and high-rises and bomb silos. It used to consist of villages of stone cottages and gentle people who raised lemons or olives or sheep. You don't know what you're talking about. A wasteland? Are you really that ignorant? NOW it's a wasteland...unless you really, really, really like shopping. And expensive restaurants. And dead Palestinian kids.

Phil F hit the nail squarely on the head!
I too am part Native American and my heritage is instrumental in my feelings concerning the occupation of Palestine.
As Phil has stated, an entire continent was stolen from us because of the white Christian man's notion of "Manifest Destiny", the idea that somehow "God" wished for them to colonize and occupy the Americas and slaughter the indigenous people. The idea that "God gave Israel to the Jews" (and they are somehow his "chosen people") is arrogance, plain and simple.
Someday, the world will look back and wonder why on earth this occupation of Palestine was allowed to happen, the same way we have finally stopped vilifying the Native Americans for trying to protect what was THEIRS.
Oh, I'm Pagan, btw. And I agree with the response from the Catholic gentleman; the Catholic church never condoned the formation of Israel at the expense of the Palestinians, and adamantly opposes occupation.

I don't know how in the world to fix that situation. The land should never have been taken from anyone to give to anyone else, but now it's just time to end the conflict. However it turns out, it'll be one messed up situation.

I am Roman Catholic and I don't believe God gave Israel to them - after all, they were there a few thousand years ago. After WWII, the Jewish people needed a homeland, but was no reason to put it where they did - in the midst of enemies. Also, they displaced those living there all ready. But, with the connivance of US and UK, Israel was created and its creation has destabilised that part of the world.

That land was a barren desert before the Jews finally returned to their rightful home, how important was that strip of land to the Arabs before the Jewish return? Not very, under nearly 19 centuries of occupation little or nothing was done to develop the area,Jerusalem was never the capital after the Jews were expelled of the population that remained in Jerusalem the majority were Jewish.
Atheists/Agnostics are vehemently opposed to Israel for no more profound a reason than the fact it is primarily supported in America on religious grounds.
Kind of hypocritical on their part though considering Israel is the only relatively stable secular democratic state amidst a sea of Islamic theocratic rule and disorder!
You don't believe God gave any land to anyone,so should there be mass migrations back and forward?
whats your point?
Yeah as for dead Palestinian children, every single time there is a Palestinian fatality it is as a result of Israeli response to Terrorist attacks on civilians.
You ever heard of Sderot?-Its one of those small quiet villages your ranting about;Google it and you'll see what i'm referring to.
Oh and why is honestreporting considered a lesser media source to you?
Perhaps they're a little too on the side of Israel for your taste?
That doesn't negate them as a credible source by the way, sorry.
GOD BLESS ISRAEL AND PALESTINE!!

Not only do I not (this is the only point of contention between me and a dear friend that an ethnic Jew), but I think since this is the only claim they have to the land, US support of Israel violates the noon-establishment clause of the US constitution.

They are illegally occupying land that is not theirs and was given to them by Nations that did not own it either. Their treatment of the native peoples of that area has been horrendous and their lobby in Washington DC is to be watched closely. So no, i do not support Israel.
