i know this is a kind of a stupid question but what is the war really about what is the origin why did it start, im really not familiar w/ politics, and theres alot of kids in america that other countries are war torn and that ours could be to. i just think it could get incredibly out of hand and result in the ultimate devistation of this race.

It started because the Bush administration thought that maybe it was possible that there could be a small chance of Iraq maybe having "weapons of mass destruction". They attempted to send inspectors to Iraq, but Saddam Hussein would not allow them in (understandably, who wants foreigners inspecting your country for no reason, without permission from the UN?) So the US invaded without any real evidence of weapons. Much later, the Bush administration's own Secretary of defense, Donald Rumsfeld, admitted that the administration was wrong about Iraq having weapons. But for some reason we are STILL in Iraq, many people saying it's because we have to "stabalize their country" - something that we REALLY aren't doing a very good job at.
And since then, gas prices have SKYROCKETED

The Iraq War is about seeking out terrorists, the nations that turn a blind eye to them and those who have a warped view of cultural relativism and showing all other co-conspirators what will happen if you randomly murder innocent people. The UN is no longer going to be used as a rock for terrorists to scurry under. The War is about telling the world, if you seek to engage in unmitigated killing of civilians, using only a body count as a method for measuring success, then we will come find you and stop you. The days of the tyrants, terrorists and dictators sitting secure behind a web international politics are gone. When you hear people say the Iraq War is about oil, think about this, was WW2 fought to gain Germany’s vast supply of Bratwurst? Was The Korean War fought for Korea’s supply of rice? As hard as it may be for people to swallow, the USA is a nation that seeks help those who need it, especially after 3,000 of our own civilians, people who had nothing to do with anything in the Mid-East or any part of the world, were slaughtered simply because they were Americans. It is painfully simple; we either fight them head on or turn our back and hope they don’t hurt us.

Saddam hussein and Iraq invaded Kuwait back in the early 90s. Now, Kuwait is our ally, so we couldn't sit back and let that happen. At the end of that, we basically handed him a ceasefire agreement on a silver platter. Saddam didn't follow that agreement, and as a result Bill Clinton signed the Iraqi Liberation Bill in 1998.

there are and have been so many 'reasons' that to give you any would be a pointless exercize.......Traklvr is incorrect....as no one associated with 9/11 came from Iraq.
Instead, try researching it and learning more about what your government is doing to both you and others around the world. Sure, it could get out of hand and many believe it already has....but until you know the issues and the way your government reacts and behaves, until you care about it and react to it, it is just a question in yahoo answers....while good that you are finally asking, the war has been going on for years.....get involved, do something....then you will know and you will be more able to affect change on your world.

The Liberation of Iraq resulted from Saddam Hussein breaking the terms of the Gulf War (1991) ceasefire agreement.

saddam invaded kuwait. the world rallied and kicked him out and he surrendered. then he broke the terms of that surrender. thats all there is to it.
our news outlets in the US dont like republicans so they have tried to convince people that is was for oil or wmds or just because bush is insane in an effort to make people vote their way next time. as you can see it worked on some.

The war started because the terrorist hurt many people in 9/11 and that was what we needed to do to stop it. The problem is we're fighting a "Gang" that hide.

The reason why 'W' invaded Iraq was pure vengeance.
Saddam threatened the life of H.W. Bush. This upset 'W'. 'W' proclaimed during his campaign in 2000, if elected, he would make Saddam Pay doe threatening his Daddy's Life.
