Doesn't make any difference. When you get out of the hospital, you're going to jail.

If you attacked a COP, either way you would be charged with assulting an officer. Knocking him out doesn't make you any brownie points more or less.

You can't be more than 15... right?
Assuming you could actually score a hit (which I seriously doubt) the difference yould be how quickly you went to jail.

usually a punch will get you the following; felony resisting arrest, assault on a law enforcement officer. with the knock-out add assault with intent on a law enforcement officer, willful bodily injury to a law enforcement officer ,in most states these are a felony which means you get a sentence that you have to do 80% of (ie 8yrs on a 10yr sent.) and because you hit a cop the sentence is way longer to begin with

If he gets knocked out, it's "Aggravated Assault on PS"

Both can send you away for a long while...

if you knock him out you could be charged with attempted murder. If you don't it will probably be assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (your fist) on a cop.
