How much should I pay a seamstress?

How much should I pay a seamstress hourly to sew my curtains. They are very plain curtains and it will be a straight sew. I have no idea and do not want to get jipped. Thank you

$30 per hour minimum. No self employed person should make less than that.

Seamstresses are not paid by the hour. They are paid by the job. Call around and get some estimates. You'll need to tell them what the finished size of the drapes will be.
