Well, YEAH it would be better to use an actual sterile piercing needle...
There are numbing products that can be used..but if you get it done professionally it doesn't hurt bad enough to bother.

Without pain? Are you kidding?!
I wouldn't recommend doing this yourself... it really is worth the $30 or so bucks to have a professional do it. That way you can be sure it's done right, and in a clean way. It's also hard to do it yourself, because you psych yourself out. Also, if you don't have experience, piercing the wrong spot could damage your teeth or gums.
However, if I can't talk you out of it, use a sterile piercing needle. My friend pierced his lip with a safety pin... it looked horrible and got infected (which is rare when you have it done professionally). It was infected for about 2 months before he finally took it out. It was disgusting! Not to mention painful to look at....
But good luck! Lip piercings are hot haha

Of course it would be better to use a sterile (autoclaved) piercing needle.
That doesn't mean it won't hurt at all though. You'll be putting a needle through your body, yourself, while you've had little to no experience. Of course it's going to hurt more then going to a professional who has lots of experience. You don't know a proper technique to follow the labret stud/ring, and that could hurt a good amount.

Tell you the truth, you'd be better not to pierce it at, my friend had this done and it got really infected because every sip or bite off food will rub off and infect the hole. And in the winter, when you your lips starts to chap...

you are crazy take an ice cube and hold it there for 40 minutes than take an apple slice and what a minute till it gets numb and you cant fill any thing than take a apple slice up to your lip and make sure the needle is clean than put it through the lip through the apple and pull out as fast as you can

Something that reduces the pain, is piercing it from the inside out. You can check your vains that way (so you dont hit one) And it doesnt hurt that much at all! Try it sometime.

Sorry not possible.Go to a professional and ya there will be some pain but only for a second.The professional should have clean tools and they will tell you how to care for your piercing.

OMG!!!lol! am 22 when i was 15 i pierced my tongue all by myself. my mom freaked and took me to a tattoo parlor and i got it done proffesionally. i did my lip too i remember i did it little by little but when i was done i was so proud of myself! I dont recommend it go to a proffessional i was lucky but you never know if u gonna get an infection. take care of your body ok!!!!!
