I don't have medical insurance and I don't know any doctor, so if i go to Walmart or Walgreens and have an eye test will they be able to give me prescription and let me buy contact lens from them?

Yes you can buy contacts without insurance. Actually, lots of insurance plans don't even cover contacts like they do glasses because "contacts are not a necessity, they are a luxury" because you can just get glasses.

The fact that you do not have Medical Insurance is not unusual, for people needing a correction. I would suggest you first have an examination done to determine what your Vision needs are, and at that point, the Doctor will help you decide whether or not Contacts would be appropriate.. If , in fact, Contacts would work for your correction, the Doctor or Optometrist can then show you the variety and price points available to you for Contacts. You cannot just walk into a Drugstore and have them show you an eyechart and you readit off and then they determine what your contacts should be...you'd be suprised at how many people think this is all that needs to be done!!

When I get an eye exam, I choose not to use my medical insurance because it doesn't offer all that great benefits for vision. I pay about $100 for an eye exam, $50 for two boxes of contacts, and about $80 for new lenses in my glasses. My friend who works at Pearle Vision even told me that not many people use their medical insurance on their visits. However, there are several people who have vision insurance that gives them a bit more benefit for their buck.
Whatever you decide to do, I wish you luck. It is very important to stay on top of your eye exams!

You have to see the eye doctor first before let you get contact lenses. There are some located in Walmart I know...not sure about Walgreens. They are expensive though.

Most medical insurance plans don't have routine vision or contact lens benefits anymore anyway, so your case is not unusual. Any optometrist can perform the fitting for you so long as they accept cash patients (and most do).
If you are really concerned about the cost of vision care, you can look into self-funded vision plans. One I know of is through VSP (vsp.com).

You will have to pay for them yourself instead of having insurance pay but any eye doctor, including the ones at Walmart, will accept your money.

Yes, the majority of people in America do NOT have vision insurance coverage - they pay cash for the exam and the glasses or contacts.

Yes, they should as long as you can pay cash, or show proof that you can pay over time, i.e. credit card, proof of earnings, etc.,etc.
