Good Evening,

I am ordering contacts online, and I am having an issue with sizing for colored contacts. I am at 8.6/ 14.2. All I can find for the particular contacts I am looking for is 8.6/ 14.0 or 14.5. My doctor is an imbecile and therefore NO help at all... so here I am. Would it be a better option to go a bit larger or smaller?
Not sure if it's important, but I will add that I have blue eyes naturally and just looking for a color enhancer of sorts.

Thank you!

hi =]
i too have blue eyes and i got honey colored contacts that i wear occasionally. although i was not given the choice of size, my eye doctor (not an imbecile but a secretist) never asked me he just picked. but, i will tell you that i have definitely noticed that they don't fit correctly. they are way too big! they slide down and they feel a lot different. so i would definitely recommend that you pick the smaller size, i think yoou'll be a lot happier. plus .2 is closer to .0 than .5

also, the grey contacts look so cool in pictures, but because i have dark blue eyes, the blue came through anyway so don't get those unless your eyes are really light!

Is the doctor truly an imbecile or are you just ticked because he won't provide you an rx for colored lenses?
Maybe there isn't a comparable healthy colored lens to suit your rx so the doc won't write a prescription for you.
Maybe its been more than a year since your last fitting so you can't fill the order legally in the US. All online companies are supposed to verify an prescription you submit with your doctor to ensure that it is valid. If you just submit what you'd like to have, it will be denied by any competent office.
The easiest way to resolve this is to return to the same doc and request a fitting for colored lenses. That way you'll be sure to get the lens that is the healthiest and most comfortable for you.

Depends on your iris diameter.

On some people, the larger diameter may mean that there is the coloured print visible on the white of your eye.

If the lens has a darker ring around the outside (like Freshlook colourblends) then this will be less a problem.

The Freshlook lenses are a 14.5 diameter and fit most people fine - these are my first choice lens to fit.

You need to a prescription for coloured lenses and it will contain the correct sizing.

Did you ask your eye doctor for coloured lenses when you had your fitting? If not, then he may not have fit you with a lens that is available in colours.

The most important part of getting coloured lenses is trying the actual colour on your actual eye to make sure you like the effect. This is part of the fitting process with your doctor.
