I'll be going to a VERY modest church for Christmas. I've been to his church before for Mass. Many of the women wear head coverings. I accidently left a lot of my things in my dorm over break and am not allowed back in until Janurary. Would a brown ankle length skirt and simple brushed hair, nothing done to it, be okay? Other than my hair dryer and some makeup I left practically everything there :(

the skirt sounds nice but, I would at least put your hair back out of your face

but how modest? in my church the women do not where make-up and we do not where pants or shorts only dresses and skirts below the knees, but that is how we worship God and we love the way we dress so no lecture on bondage just sharing to help you be more comfortable in your visit to this church

As a pastor myself, please let me thank you for wanting to attend this coming Sunday. Christmas and Easter are two Sundays I love most of all! (If I may digress, this past Easter 2007, I was right on time for the service and almost couldn't find a parking place!)

My hunch is that there are others who, like you, aren't able to worship there on a regular basis. Don't try to copy anybody there, unless you really want to. For example, I've seen head coverings that Mennonite women wear, looking like a little white lacy cap (forgive me if I'm wrong); bonnets, like the Amish women wear (several communities of these folk where I live); scarves, like some women want to wear; and hats of various kinds, again worn by women of several denominations. Some women don't use any head coverings at all. The thing is that the Lord isn't impressed by what you're wearing, as much as He's concerned about how you are on the inside.

But given the circumstances, I think most people would be happy to see you, and they would understand. I mean, what young lady hasn't forgotten something in the dorm over the Christmas break? Put it this way: if you were ever to visit the church where I'm pastoring, the apparel you mentioned would be just fine. Please enjoy the services, have a wonderful Christmas holiday (and vacation!), and thanks again for thinking about church during this time. Merry Christmas to you and all your family!

At Christmas, churches are filled with visitors (as opposed to only the regular attendees) and you'll certainly see all sorts of clothing and levels of adornment.

Don't try to look so much like the regulars that it's unnatural for you. Wear makeup and fix your hair and go to worship as you would normally.

There's no point in adopting the style of the regulars if you aren't going to actually join the church. Have a meaningful holiday!

For the most part, it should be. If necessary, you might get by with a simple scarf wrapped around your head, covering your hair and part of your face.

In order to emphasize the modesty, very pale skin, and no eye or lip makeup will make you look more innocent.

Sounds delightful, it's a pity you didn't think to pack a shirt though :-)

God looks at your heart not what you are wearing.
Go to church and know God loves you ! !

Should wear a t-shirt that says
HWJJ
How would Jesus Judge?
